What I wouldn’t do for a good old snowstorm like we use to get in the 70’s and early 80’s. This winter really sucks so far.

That’s a nauseating amount of snow the euro drops on the east coast

I'm really pulling for Boston. Their big storm drought has been on going, for what, a year now or something.

Had about 4 inches with clipper #1 Saturday night and look to have about 2 more inches so far with clipper #2 this morning with light snow still coming down. Ratios were really kind to me (20:1 type stuff). It finally looks like winter up here, so hopefully we all get in on it soon Gonna show any pics of your winter wonderland so we can all enjoy? Golden Retrievers and snow

Tracking a winter storm and getting insight from most of this forum is something I enjoy. This winter has been BORING.

Still need to keep an eye on the light snow potential Thurs/Fri. Models are trying to amplify the digging trof overhead which may sharpen the frontal response.

Thanks, WSC. My Golden loves snow - the last little bit we saw had him coaxing us to come out to play in it.

Still need to keep an eye on the light snow potential Thurs/Fri. Models are trying to amplify the digging trof overhead which may sharpen the frontal response. A fair amount of GEFS/EPS members are printing out some measurable snow with that, generally less than 0.1” of liquid equivalent.

This has been one of the worst winters... really worst three consecutive winters... I can remember. I’ve heard before winter cycles trend in 3 year increments. I have no idea what metrics are used for measuring the trend, factors taken into account, or where I actually heard this.

Seems like February will continue to trend Warmer in the days ahead. Extended looks overall disgusting for Winter weather fans, but excellent for warmer weather ones. I've been ready to nail this coffin for awhile now, but as we know patterns like to turn come March and even into April when people don't want the winter weather anymore or they do, but any snow simply just melts on contact or only stays around a few hours before melting. At least February seems to continue to trend wetter so it will be more active...

I was in it. I was ten years old. I will neve forget. It was very scary. We were very lucky. We had minor damage.

On top of Covid and the flu, strep throat seems to be making a pretty big appearance around here now. Feels like about half my office is out with one of them.

My wife works in the lab at a local hospital; she said they set records for numbers of testing for COVID, flu, and strep last week (and lots of positives for all three too). Enough so that they're running low on testing supplies. We've made it thru the past two years without getting COVID till she brought it home Friday. WIsh I at least had some interesting weather to watch while we're recovering.

Gonna show any pics of your winter wonderland so we can all enjoy? Golden Retrievers and snow Dogs and snow! Some of my favorite things. Glad someone on the board gets a decent snow cover! You're always rooting for us down in STL. Yes a crappy winter this far for us in terms of snow, but at least Jan has been below average w/ some noteworthy cold especially after our extreme Dec blowtorch. Still a long way to go this winter and all it takes is one storm!

The east coast mets are starting to get all giddy. I wish Chris would get giddy. Lol I rememeber the days when Chris would see a storm over a week out and start talking about it. Where he seen something in the making. And knew almost for sure we were going to get something historic. Now it's two more weeks. Lol We've just been in a bad spot and true "Winter" has been on the other side of the globe the past several yrs.

I think some of these model runs are throwing way too much energy out front with that GHD-ish storm. Surprisingly, the GFS looks more realistic with a flatter setup. I'm starting to like this current version of the GFS myself. I trust it more than the EC overall.

Keep that lead wave trending weaker/flatter and then let it get cranking.

Colder but just a big Rainer on gfs too. Good times Conceptually, it’s what we need. Having one big piece eject out right away would just be a cutter. Now, just need the lead wave to drag the cold air in a little faster/further. Would be nice to get that high pressure just a touch east. Definitely a period of interest with that setup.
