Just dropped down to 32* 7 miles west of De Soto. All snow here very light and small flakes. Looking at radar echoes about to exit the area, love it when a plan comes together. Has anyone looked over the dry slot? What can we expect from that? It's starting to backbuild and fill in with low grade echoes so my guess is precip won't completely shutdown, but reduce to a freezing drizzle/small grauple type mess for a couple hours then kick over to snow as the deformation zone from western Missouri works through. south of the metro especially the southern most counties might actually see a full pause to precipitation then might see a brief period of flurries or snow showers with no accumulations.

Very light snow, 32*. Low clouds are screaming out of the north. Some building of 'streamers' on composite radar.
Erdit: On closer look of composite it looks like pssibly a/the defo band starting to form just west of Jeff City to the northeast.

Definitely going to underperform IMO , this dry slot wasn’t modeled very well. 1/4”-1/2” of sleet and 1/2”-1” of (maybe) of it holds together, isn’t what the models showed last night. It should be ripping precipitation right now.

Very light snow and down to 31*. I like the looks of what appears to be initial lift being seen on the composite radar. Anyone seeing anything falling at/near the radar site in Weldon Springs yet?

M0.5" of sleet/snow in Brighton. Just finished shoveling this heavy ish off and laying down ice melt. Trying to prevent it from freezing solid to the pavement!

We knew it was going to be a sharp cutoff and that the dry slot would punch in quickly due to a fast moving system.

Guys, the defo band is still out in "no mans land" on radar. The beam is overshooting a lot of the precipitation. Patience.

Temp down to 32 here …. Of course the precipitation has moved out without a ping of sleet or a flake …. But we did get a billion inches of rain …….

I didn't get the rain gauge out until the bulk of the training rain last night and I still received 2.25" of rain with some sleet floating on top. I had figured I missed close to .75" but still just a guess.

Short range models swing the strongest lift through from 4-6PM or so. ~30dbz returns all the way out to KC/Sedalia supports that nicely. This will be all snow for the Metro...still thinking another 1-3" total.

You can see the squall coming out of Jefferson City. It's coming and at a good time too as the sun starts setting allowing it to stick quicker and with some sleet already on the ground for the metro and snow north, it shouldn't be wasted too much.

i want 2 more inches. Do it I think you'll get your wish. Rest of the metro around the 370/255 loop should also get an inch to 2" out of this and perhaps an inch or so in Belleville.

Springfield, MO radar even suggests that the southerners could get in on the action as well. But likely only a dusting to half inch or so.

May have a little sleet at first with the defo band but that warm wedge dissipates fast.

I was surprised this morning when I seen flood warnings to the SW of me and flood warnings to the NE of me but Jeffco was left unwarned. The dreaded 'Arch Effect' strikes again. But it was good in this case. Can I ask for and get some money back from Gov/NWS for the crap radar products, then I would use that money to 'purchase' private stuff. Why do I have to spend my money twice for the same &%&%% thing?

Radar looks really good for next few hours. What radar are you looking at? Looks to me like we're pretty much done and this backside deformation band turns into a nothingburger... MAYBE 0.5" dusting.
