So can we assume with a decent certainty we have seen the last of the snow for the season? I’ll go out on a limb and say maybe

I’ll go out on a limb and say maybe Now that's BOLDI know we can still get some snow in April but in general what are the typical odds.

Id say there is a 90 percent chance snow is done for the season. If we get anything else it would just be mood snow with temp in the upper 30s to a dusting at best Overal seems like a mild pattern is setting in and as we getnto april chances are very low for snow. But not impossible

The large scale pattern looks fairly mild overall into much of March with the -EPO gone, replaced with a persistent trof in the Gulf of Alaska and a neutral to +NAO. But there are signs of W Canada loading up with cold air towards the last week of the month and the N stream becoming amplified which could send some of that into the lower 48. A lot will depend on the evolution of the flow in the Pacific and whether it can break down the generally zonal flow or not.
There's two shortwaves of interest showing up in the models...one towards next Thurs/Fri and another towards the middle of the following week. These probably need to be watched for severe potential and/or significant rainfall.

This would be fine if the weather models sprung ahead also.

WSC I agree however fortunately we all seem to follow the models more in the winter, now that its spring we dont need to worry as much as all we have to track is rain and storms versus snow, so at least for myself the hour wait is no biggie when I only look at the models once a day instead of watching them with popcorn in hand like a movie run by run lol.

I know you didn't mean it this way and I'm not singling you out here, but I would say that as we are head into Spring we should worry more. Dangerous or destructive weather can happen anytime of course but becomes more common this time of year. I agree though this forum does seem to get less active outside of Winter. I never root for dangerous weather but you have to admit the high stakes makes it just as, if not more, interesting than a winter storm right?

I find it less interesting and less satisfying to track because of the scattered coverage area and the quick duration. There is no “lasting” enjoyment like there is with snow. Instead, if you actually get the severe weather, you get a hefty bill and a headache. It merits interest, but is not satisfying in my opinion.

Severe weather and flooding is kind of a big deal, so...
They should have never messed with the clocks...the sun still rises in the east and sets in the west...like clockwork. You can't beat nature, you live with it.

I never root for dangerous weather but you have to admit the high stakes makes it just as, if not more, interesting than a winter storm right? Different strokes for different folks. What interests some may be less interesting for others. Open minds to all. Winter storms are more of a long duration build-up and then a slow motion unwind. There is a lot more pre-game for winter storms... and they are generally more fun to watch unfold and relax. Severe weather is much more of a mesoscale thing. Much more a short-fuse, high intensity ramp up and draw-down. The stakes are higher, the pace is faster. I worry much more about untrained eyes trying to interpret high level short-fused data and then posting their far flung guesscasts on social media during severe weather... because lives could be put at risk. To the posters, it can become a game (like Wordle) to people who need credible, reliable information, it can be deadly serious.

I find severe weather more interesting than winter weather from a meteorological perspective. Winter weather is more fun to track in the days leading up, but severe weather can get the juices flowing in ways winter weather can’t.

I’m a winter weather watcher, the only time I follow this board outside of winter is if there is MAJOR severe or tornado threat. Other than that, 30-40 mph wind gusts , small hail and a few lightning strikes doesn’t do much for me. I know others on here track every little small squall line, that’s great for them gives them something to do. I spend way to much time in the winter tracking models than I should. The last 2-3 storms I put way less effort in looking at models and just looked at this board from time to time. I’m definitely going to continue that next year ! Today is awesome btw!

I like to watch the winter weather in entirely different manners. I can't anticipate it for days like a winter storm. But watching the cumulus clouds build quickly into thunderheads in a matter of minutes is thoroughly mesmerizing. It's as good as an action movie for me.
