Latest Farmington temp (1pm) is 79*. I am sitting at 87* 7 miles west of De Soto. Can any locals verify or shoot me down? Tip of the day......It's a bad day to try and mess with roofing panels. Using old roof panels off decrepid barn inside of the greenhouse as a barrier for dirt. Already cut down to 13" widths but I needed to cut them in half again and the wind was still trying to carry me away.

I would say 'close enough'. Strange observation....I looked out the kitchen window to the west. I seen a few small mid level clouds and they were barely moving out of the south. With the wind gusts going on here I couldn't believe that these clouds were moving so slowly.

Sneaky tornado threat around here tomorrow afternoon depending on where the boundary sets up. Just enough turning of wind with height in the low levels to make things interesting.

Looks like a flop for any meaningful rain in the St. Louis area. Models showing most redevelopment southeast of St. Louis metro.

Looks like a nice soaking tonight. Starting to line up with stratiform rain in central mo. I would live no thunderstorms for a while and a whole lot of nothingness this year after the last few years with covid.

In fact, we are looking at rain well into the evening hours based on radar. It was always an afternoon event based on what ive heard, and it verified well, imo. Id say even the potential for locally heavy rains and it seems the potential is there for localized flooding. Heavy rain rn in Dardenne Prairie with more heavy development upstream around Union.

No I meant covid was enough to deal with would like to get through a storm season with little to no severe weather or property damage, as I am on my second roof in 5 years, and my parents in ofallon arenon their 4th roof in 12 years. So much for these 25 year shingles anymore. Im almost tired of being in storm ally along th 70 corridor

Small bow echo near Worden/Staunton looking pretty frisky on radar. Finally getting some bouts of thunder up this way.

We finally started to get some showers here the last 1/2 hour 7 miles west of De Soto. I was glad it held off. When we got back home around 3:30 and I didn't see any imminent rain, I took the tiller to our newest section of 'clay' we are working on. Another 50'x40' area that we plowed up earlier this year. Took the plow through numerous times then started tilling in shredded leaves that we had put in the chicken run over the winter. Great stuff. This is the 3rd tilling and it is looking really good and wanted to get it done before the rain hit. The rabbits will be doing there fair share with poop here shortly also.

Unless I missed something St. Louis has not been under a severe weather watch yet this yet this year. There may be some potential this Saturday as we roll into the first day of May but it's really hard for me to get interested in anything at this point as the usual mitigating factors of timing and clouds/rain will almost certainly be play.

I see the SPC has an area highlighted out west on Friday. Will have to wait and see if the threat continues on to the East, but as mentioned there will be rain in our area late week which could mitigate as per the usual evolution. The SPC seems to think that is the case and the local office has not mentioned severe. STL proper has not seen a watch all year. A Severe watch last weekend to the North East and a tornado watch to the south. St. Clair county got in on both of those, but i dont think there have been any severe reports in the area since the Amazon Tornado.

I think it is late enough in the season to call it. The 2021/22 season total was 12.1". This is 3 consecutive years that it has been below normal and 7 out of the last 10 years have been below normal. Our new climatological normal in effect is 16.8".
