Looks like it may get active again in about a week. Maybe the plains will finally come alive.

That storm along the MO/AR border is tagged with 4” hail It also has a PDS tornado warning with a confirmed tornado and TWC isn't live though that's understandable given the day.

Now a Tornado Emergency for that cell. Wow Was there any tornado threat mentioned today? That storm looks like a beast with a confirmed large tornado on the ground and really large hail. Not often you see rotation and purple returns so far from the radar. Right now the Memphis radar is giving the best views.

Do we count any Good Friday as the Tornado anniversary or the April 22nd date.

My friend sent me video and audio. He was trapped in his car. He was trying to put a tarp over his truck and had to jump inside the vehicle. The sound of the hail was nuts. He said the hail was golfball sized and then he starting seeing a few baseball sized stones. He said his windshield is smashed. He was horrified. He ran back inside his apartment during a break in the hail. The sirens are still going off. Listening to his audio is horrifying!

Lots of spirited discussion in the twitter verse about the use of Tornado Emergency this evening in Arkansas with strong opinions on each side. I followed a decent portion of tonight's events and have no problem at all with the tornado warnings that were issued. I have big problems with the use of Tornado Emergency and some of the truly shotty storm reports (but definitely not all... there are some good ones out there). Personally opinion... and I think this matches the intent of the NWS... Tornado Emergencies are to be exceptionally rare and used only when confirmed tornadoes are producing catastrophic damage and impacting major population centers. When the final reports are written, I saw little evidence from the pictures of the evening to suggest anything but a few brief small tornadoes. The radar signature is much more indicative of an RFD monster that on occassion spun up a tornado as it surged east. Pictures from the field either did not support tornadoes... or were inconclusive. Although a good distance from the radar (beam height of 6-7k feet) a significant tornad (required for TORE) should be generating a respectable TDS that is easily depicted... even at 8k feet. I've seen some possible TDS's posted to twitter... but they are in areas with low reflectivity which makes them questionable at best. All of these unknowns and uncertainties makes me think a TORE was not warranted. It's been an intersting discussion on twitter for sure.

That was a tough spot for the NWS Little Rock last night. You had the storm occurring at night in a radar hole and people unintentionally (and maybe even intentionally) submitting false reports of a wedge on the ground. I agree with Chris, if you're issuing a TORE you have to be 99.9% sure the tornado is on the ground and doing damage in a populated area.
Not to pick on NWS Little Rock, but they also issued a questionable TORE on April 11th for an EF1 that stayed in a forested area on the north side of Little Rock and avoided any populated areas.

TORE has become their new TOR.

Not sure if this is technically true, but it seems at least subjectively that last 10 years has seen an increase in TORE issuance with a decrease in F4/F5 tornadoes. Odd divergence considering dual-pol should make assessment better.

Automation has come for, is coming for, and will come for a huge swath of jobs. No doubt, 15 years from now will look totally different. Hard to find a safe sector if you are an early careerist.

Landscaping is a very solid career retaining walls, irrigation, landscape lighting, hard to have robot for those jobs, we just get machines to make it easier on our backs.
I went back into it about 2 months ago because pay is premium these days for a good solid guy or gal, and its what I know best as I grew up with that background.
Healthcare was not for me.

Oof
Public Information Statement National Weather Service Little Rock AR 536 PM CDT Sat Apr 16 2022
...Storm Survey Results From The Northeast Arkansas Supercell That Occurred Friday, April 15, 2022...
A storm survey team from NWS Little Rock assessed damage across portions of Fulton, Sharp and Lawrence Counties today. After surveying the affected areas, it was determined that straight line winds and large wind blown hail caused the damage.
Reports of tornadoes occurring across these areas yesterday could not be verified. An earlier report of vehicles being flipped over near Walnut Ridge (Lawrence County) was determined to have been caused by those vehicles crashing after encountering significant amounts of accumulated hail on the roadway.
