latest diso: A rain/snow mix entered southern MO and is transitioning to snow as it moves north. As snow intensifies, temperatures will continue to drop to near freezing through tomorrow morning. The heaviest snow accumulations are expected from Farmington to Salem. The northwestern snowfall gradient was tightened, lessing snow amounts half inch to an inch based on short term model guidance. Accumulating snow will taper off by late morning as the system moves into the Ohio Valley.

The latest HRRR run is looking pretty questionable. It doesn’t have precep even entering the metro until 11pm and isn’t seeing that stuff by KC at all. I converted UTC time wrong in my head.
It doesn't have precep entering the metro until 1am
Ya, it's out to lunch on something.

The radar has popped significantly in southeast MO in the last hour. We have a 3" report in Popular Bluff and a 4" report south of there near the border with AR. Surely the SPC is going to issue a mesoscale discussion for SE MO shortly right? Those echoes are moving nearly due N too...starting to doubt the sharp cutoff N/W of 44/70 that the latest short-range models suggest That batch just north of Farmington is definitely moving due north. That should cause the changeover to snow very quickly.

I expect a changeover here in about an hour to an hour and a half, based on precip rates.

These short-range outputs are looking janky compared to real-world obs for sure.

We had rain in Fredericktown until 1900hrs, then extremely sloppy snow from 1945-2030. From 2030hrs on we've had moderate to heavy snow. Roadways are covered. The compaction is real though. Stuff is like concrete.
