Ok, well, that happened. The GFS went apesh*t. I'm pretty sure social media will be broken by tomorrow.
And yes, don't worry, I'm going to archive the snow bomb chart.

My goodness, 00z gfs looks like the GHD blizzard 😂 972mb low just south of STL. Unbelievable This is for next Friday to be very clear. The Tuesday storm looks small in comparison to that lol Best case scenario for Tuesday may be a kirksville to Chicago crusher to build the freeway for next Friday’s storm to unload

Snow++ in St.Peters 1.0 inch in South St.Peters, tonight is a fun little system. I am suprised the staying power this back edge has had. Streets are now slushy

GFS showing over 60" of snow throughout it's run north of St. Louis and it's not even done yet with an overrunning storm growing at the day 10 mark. That's a first even for model land!

If we see similar data tomorrow night it will be time to start taking this storm seriously. Very impressive across the runs tonight.

I am confused are you saying next weekend storm is bigger than the Tuesday storm? Next Friday’s storm might be the biggest storm the Midwest has seen this millennium.

I am confused are you saying next weekend storm is bigger than the Tuesday storm? The 00z gfs has a massive blizzard for the region next Friday. It also has a very impactful storm for Tuesday for the metro.

Coming down pretty good in south eastern St. Peters. Didn't measure, but eyeballing about 1" so far.

Radar just keeps getting better and better for the immediate metro the next 2 to 3 hours with moderate to heavy snow with large flakes. I'm upping this up to a 3-4" event. Part of me wants to go 5" for some lucky dog, but compaction and marginal temps prevent me going that high. Nevertheless this is the heaviest snow for some since 11/11/2022, and the first 'impactful' event of the season as far as roads despite the marginal temps and uncertain ice crystal availability. I'd retroactively call this a 'surprise' low-end advisory level event.

I may have called this storm several days ago... but that call is even going to fall short. The flake size is overwhelming the above freezing air and warmish ground and even roads are getting covered. I was expecting some slushy sidewalks and parking lots but the main roads are more snow covered than I would have expected. The reality is we surely have had 4+ inches by now, except for melting and compacting.

And if anything remotely close to what the GFS shows next Friday actually pans out while I'm out of town I'm going to be p****d.

Measure 2 inches. Measurement location was a retaining wall made of block close to the house, but the snow seemed to be falling onto the location easily. Tool used was a Leatherman wave multitool. Seems to match up with others within a mile of here

Street is covered in my neighborhood in Kirkwood. Snow coming down good. I would probably say 1-1.5 inches.

Turned off the light in my office to see the snow, and can see fat hamster flakes coming down. The gap between the roof and the roof vent is gone, so at least an inch. I'm just eyeballing from inside, so totally not precise.
