Systems like this evening remind me again why I fell in love with weather when I was 9 years old. Absolutely beautiful outside! Expect the unexpected. Let's keep this theme running thru next week. I hope we get to use the magical word that starts with the letter that comes after a.

Could this snow cover adjust the Tues storm temps a little?

Heaviest snowfall I have seen tonight. Quarters+ flakes under a few yellows on radar. Pushing 1.75" eyeballing the deck railing. 100% chance of rain Monday night with a low of 33*. That's insulting.

I hope we get to use the magical word that starts with the letter that comes after a. I saw this and my mind went to Bust. Lol. I hope it's the other word. It would be nice to have a blizzard and not have to drive in it.

Could this snow cover adjust the Tues storm temps a little? I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the forecast for Sun, Mon, Tues. just before I posted. I guess not.

Over 2” here now and big flakes still falling. It’s nice to see a storm over perform for once. (Except for Chris’ forecast)

The GFS Ensemble has the 850mb low going over STL. Still looks like, best guess, I will have .70"qpf after the fall below 0*C. That kind of surprised me. Looks like a perfect 'dry slot' set up. We will see.

Could this snow cover adjust the Tues storm temps a little? All this snow will melt tomorrow Pretty low ratio snow, not a lot of sun tomorrow and it’s early January. It’ll hang around longer than that.

GFS Ensemble also has me sitting at 13" of snow thru 264 hrs and NE MO gets a good start on their glacier with 16-17". Seems like highly elevated snow totals for an Ensemble run? That's just thru 264hrs too.

Will fall just shy of 1” here in Perryville. Hard to complain when you expected zero!

Is the bright yellows developing over the radar site sleet contamination or just the radar seeing the 'hamsters' better?

Is the bright yellows developing over the radar site sleet contamination or just the radar seeing the 'hamsters' better? radar seeing very wet and large flakes. wet snow flakes are very reflective.

Not a bad look to the 00z euro
Last few runs it has been trending toward a slower and less negatively titled trough
That run the trough stays largely neutrally tilted until passing the area
Thats a good trend for backside snow potential

When was the last time when a prediction of rain/snow with warmer ground temperature and snow winning out? Amazing. My faith has been restored.

I was hoping for that last batch of expanding greens on the radar to hit but they fell apart just to my southwest. Measured 2.625" on the deck railing. Temp still sitting at 32*. Wouldn't it be nice if EVERY snowstorm this year 'over-produced'.
