There are several chances for nusiance snows the next few days... similar to last night... but no major systems. The most interesting time might be later this week if somerhing can get squeezed out with a slightly more organized... yet still strung out system. I think Brtn and others mentioned it. Otherwise, there isnt much of winter precip interest to track. Just a lot of effort to put forward on tiny little annoying things.

Looking similar to yesterday, maybe an inch in spots Yeah a heavy dusting is a good bet again. Looks like it's going to start later now. Some of the mesoscale models aren't too jazzed and are dry. I still think we will squeak out 0.2" to 0.5". Sometime after 6/7pm tomorrow NW to SE. And we are officially at the point where we are forecasting snow in decimals.

The one caveat to that above statement is that I worry about freezing drizzle or freezing rain events anytime we pull out of a deep freeze like this. The stratification of moisture and temps as warm air returns over the cold is prone to such events.

Hoping to get a little snow on the northern edge down here but that’s not looking great.

Looking at radar, looks like reurns are down to about 6.5k feet... so that's how much dry air we need to overcome.

The furthest north snow mping I’ve seen so far is in Bolivar, MO
That’s about the same latitude as the southern counties

-2* was the low in Marissa, according to my WeatherLink. Haven’t gotten in to see if it was decimals above or below that. Currently a balmy 1*—reminds me of the scene in the back of the truck from Planes Trains and Automobiles.

Anyone see the euro yet and throw their phone across the room? Several inches of rain early next week 30s and 40s.

Anyone see the euro yet and throw their phone across the room? Several inches of rain early next week 30s and 40s. Yikes! Unfortunately, the op is in relative agreement with the ensembles But, it is only in partial agreement with the GEFS, and only agrees with the CMC for about 24-36 hours. I’d be interested to see the EPS go out to the GEFS and CMC. Both of those put us back into the chiller from main fridge, but not in the freezer at the end of their runs.

Lastly, if those op models were to verify, there’d be a hella ice storm over the glacier states of IA and N IL.

Lastly, if those op models were to verify, there’d be a hella ice storm over the glacier states of IA and N IL. I was just going to say it looks like an ice storm setup to me. Basically, the places that just got snow are where I would expect the ice and then the cold comes back. They could be in serious trouble. Still holding out hope for a few inches of snow Thursday/Friday, but losing optimism.

To add insult to injury, my brothers trailered the snowmobiles to N. IL while I sit at home with the latest little nasty strain of COVID.
Can’t get snow. Can’t travel to the snow. Then it’ll warm. Then rain to cold.
