Well today’s “system” has all but vanished. Not surprised. Just crazy how much digital snow we had 4 days out for 3 different storms only to end up with nothing each time. Frustrating.
The cold, even without a snowpack, is impressive. Literally breath taking.

The 06z GFS looks pretty darn good on Thursday with a solid Fgen band developing along 44/70. That could drop several inches of fluff if it holds merit.

-7.6°F low in High Ridge. Back up to -7.2°F.
Wasn't it like an almost 18 year run from '96 to 2014 where we didn't go below zero?

-9* ambient temp for the low in Northern Wildwood! -6* at KSTL is impressive! -8* at KSUS! Coldest wind chills -28* at both airports. This airmass was colder than expected!

Looks like the most I could muster, if I squinted really hard, is a very generous .125" of snow 7 miles west of De Soto. I'm sitting at minus two and don't know if it was lower just as the sun was peaking out a few hours ago. This certainly had to be, easily, the most digital snow that was ever modeled in a six or seven day stretch. How could the models deliver such fantasy forecast but I guess in some areas those amounts did fall, just wasn't over us.🤬

This is some of the stuff that gets scary as I get older. All I had to do was look on my remote weather station to see that it bottomed out at -4°.🤪🤪 Quite chilly for the very small snow cover that I have.

-3° was where I bottomed out this morning here in Northern St. Francois county. Heavy dusting to maybe a quarter inch of snow last evening. A shame there isn't more, because it's cold enough to stay awhile.
Warm coffee tastes good this morning. ☕️

-9* in Brighton this morning. Was checking the yearly lows on the station and since 2014 we've gone below zero 9 out of 10 years. These severe arctic outbreaks seem to be getting more common. I can remember several discussions on here about ideal conditions required to get below zero. Then, when it happened it was kind of the same reaction as a 6”+ snowfall. But, now it does seem like any time a lobe of the PV decides to grace us with its presence, our ability to go below zero has become much easier. Used to be, gotta have 2” of snowpack at least, light winds, heck, even the moon phase mattered. Now though, we do it with 15mph winds and bare ground. Think what this morning's temperature would have been if we did have 6 inches of snow on the ground.

These stratus clouds are going to keep the temps down even more! Some areas North and West may not get above zero today.

At -7 right now here. We had about a half inch of snow last night. What are your thoughts on the Monday afternoon, eve system? Stay warm everyone!

Some of the mesoscale models aren't too jazzed and are dry. I still think we will squeak out 0.2" to 0.5". Sometime after 6/7pm tomorrow NW to SE.

Arctic air is very efficient at wringing out moisture
