Yep yypc, I lived in the foothills of Hood. Worked on the Mt for many years..incredible Snowfall at times..but in the foothills..feast or famine. 2-3ft some storms. Flooding others..seen a lot of both but been here for 12 yrs so it has worn off..so when it's dreary it reminds of those days.. My first time ever skiing was at timberline. Love that place. Yeah it is definitely tough not seeing the sun for so long. Lol..that was my Employer for many years! I was F&B Manager for a long time..also did the Brewery in Govt Camp for a long time! Nice perks..my kids all learned how to Ski..then became Snowboarders as the sport evolved in the mid-late 90s..aging myself.. I remember many a day driving to the lodge on the 6 Mile road at 530 am in absolute blizzard conditions..at times you felt blurred by Snow and did not know if you were on the road or not...if you know that road it's over the cliff if not on it..I would leave sometimes at night and having been there 12 hrs and my Jeep was gone!! Buried.. I don't know if you stayed at the Lodge but amazing craftsmanship. The woodwork, Iron gates, The "Shining " outside front of lodge was filmed at Timberline! Great History of all the workers doing this during the work progress act. I'm always amazed at how you can construct a building at 6000 feet in those times..

Yep,about too throw in the White Flag on this Winter! I know February all the signs teleconnections, etc say Cold and Snow but it just doesn't want to materialize. Will see after 15th but I'm afraid it will keep getting pushed back then the runway ends..I need some positive insight!! Please..I lived in Oregon for 13 yrs maybe it's PTSD this week from all those long wet winters..lol. It's amazing out there but yes some winters are long dreary like what we have been going through. We will see a steady march to normal and then below normal temps starting around 5-8 February. All, and I mean all of them are trending to colder weather starting around the first week of February. I think February will give someone in the viewing area an 8”+ snowstorm. Also, I think this cold has some staying power since it is coming from a more natural (not SSW/PV event related) place. We shall see I suppose. Bring it Please! Thank you for the positive Support!

We've had many gut punches the last few winters with storms in our wheelhouse at the right time of the season only to produce what we have today. It's annoying.
February does look better as we go one here..after the 1st week especially. I'll 1 up maddogs precognition and say st louis will see a 4 inch plus in February or early March. So..probably not

I forgot to mention something I don’t think I’ve ever seen before down here. Was it maybe Monday night we got a cold rain? Whichever night we had a decent rain but still a thick layer of ice on the creeks down here. They had an issue with flooding on a few creeks because of ICE damns. What a weird weather pattern we’re in.
And to beat a dead horse, yesterday should have put a decent dent in the drought down here. I’ll take that over cold and dry.

I’m pretty amazed that the lake out here is still ice covered… With temps above freezing since Monday and rain pretty much every day it has not melted the ice…… I guess it just shows the power of the sun

There was still patchy frost in the ground the other day.

I had a snow shower as I walked from my truck into Church a little after 10 this morning. Light wind blown flakes. Didn't last too long.

The pond ice was still thick enough to walk on where we were goose hunting at today. It was starting to get sketchy though.

Late 90's we had 2 overlapping broods...anyone remember the year? It was absolutely deafening around the clock. I don't remember the year exactly, but I remember finding an alarming amount of cicadas inside Mercy South (St. Anthony's) where I worked at the time.

Ok... good news... morethanweatherstl.com (the direct link) is working again. Not being an IT guy I didn't realize there was an additional "thing" that needs to be renewed to port the URL over to proboards. It's always something.

Does anyone know of a good non-chain steakhouse or seafood restaurant near I-70 in the St. Charles, St. Peters, O'Fallon area?

WSC any words on cohens blog about Cold late month..I only view it on Wednesday so I'm not sure if you have a subscription or not. Just curious if it's on or we are ready to put a fork in this one! I have to say running errands with Sun out and shades on felt real good..almost made me want Spring and warmer weather..I know bite my tongue. Thank you in advance if any insight. Chris, I hope it's ok to mention that on the page about another blog.
