I don't know why either.... Hey Grizzlebeard! long time no see. Seems like you always show up around this time in the season, then vanish again come March and especially April.
Meanwhile the big fun of this event seems to be coming up from Rolla, MO area now.

Snow is sticking on grass here in Maryland Heights. It helps that it is kind of chunky. Slightly rimed and very well formed dendrite. Kind of lick lucky charms or captain crunch.

Salt trucks were out in full-force this morning on the drive in. I'm sure a little got blown to the shoulder, but overall roads *should* be OK. Usually the problem is the driver, and it doesn't even need to be snowing.
Sleet, of course, is still the game-changer.

Moderate snow now in Edwardsville, really picked up in last 10 minutes. Big fluffy flakes. Radar filling in NICELY to the southwest. This might end up overperforming after all (and the bands of heaviest precip a bit further south than modeled). 32F

This is setting up really nice for the Metro. Evaporational/dynamic cooling N of the boundary will help nudge it southward and change the mixing over soon.

I seen the advisories extended South and I looked out the window and seen it was doing something, stuck my head out the door and it was a sleet rain mix, mostly rain, temp 33°. That was before I read all the new posts. Stuck my head out agaon, now only rain falling 33°. WTH 7 miles west of DeSoto.

Just went out and swept the steps and part of the parking lot. Pretty slushy rime balls with smaller flakes mixed in.
Whoever salted our lot must have come in hot. I think we have about 100 granules across the entire lot.
