I will be watching the eclipse from my back deck here in southwest Perry County. Perryville is offering plenty of viewing areas, including the 8-10 fields at the soccer complex, the city park and airport. I personally would go to city park if I was going to town. I have a nice cold beverage ready to drink during totality .

Me and the wife are bringing our 1.5 year old daughter and dog to the bank of the mississippi from the Illinois side, near Carbondale. We will see how it goes with the 1.5 year old. She may not remember it, but I certainly will. Hoping for clear skies and safe travels for all.

Hi, everyoneā¦hubby and I are still undecided about where to travel to have the best chance to view totality tomorrow. Are any of you planning to meet up? Weāre in Bowling Green, MOā¦willing to go as far as Vincennes, IN. Excited, as 2017 was such a surreal experience! That includes the nightmare traffic afterwards haha. We are planning on heading down rt 13 towards pinckneyville and getting about 3 minutes of totality. Hopefully avoid the traffic If 13 is crowded, and I have no idea if it will be, take Randolph County Line down toward the Shooting Complex. Sparta is right around 2:54. Iām still planning on watching it on the back deck with a bourbon in hand, and maybe a sourdough loaf in the oven.

Well, they said tons of people would flood the region. It appears that is true

I'm seeing good trends from the 0Z and later model runs in terms of viewing conditions. Even the HRRR and RAP have switched to favorable. If these latest runs stick then most people from the AR/MO to IL/IN borders will be happy.

01Z NBM looks good. It has 840 W/m2 at 12pm and 720 W/m2 at 1pm. It does appear that it knows about the eclipse since radiation drops dramatically at 2pm and rebounds at 3pm so that 1pm flux is relative to about 800 W/m2 clear sky. Let's lock this in and get the next 15 hours under our belts and call it a day. That's all I'm asking.

I usually have things like this well planned out, but have been under a lot of stress lately. Many thanks again to all who replied. You guys are the best. Wishing everyone else who is traveling, safe travels!

Itās been a rough week(FIL passed on Wednesday). But today will be a nice break from reality. Downtown Ste. Gen. was hopping yesterday afternoon , but nothing crazy. My in-laws have a couple staying at there AirBNB from Western Kansas I believe.
Enjoy it like youāll never see it again š

I've noticed a lot of boat traffic today. Can't decide if everybody is just going fishing since it's a beautiful day (kinda late to get started, though) or trying to get out onto Rend Lake or one of the others in the area. If that's the case, I can't imagine the boat ramp when it's over.

55 in the STG was easy going. Zero traffic on 61 going into town. Guess most people are heading further south.

Took some back roads but made it to Farmington without much hassle.
We avoided 55 at all cost.
