How is Saturday shaping up as far as rain chances? Does it appear to be on and off rain all day or just rain in the morning? Thinking of a trip to Black River for some UTV trail riding but don’t want to be caught in any flash flood situation. Thoughts? Many thanks!

Looks pretty rainy...all day rains aren't likely this time of year but I'd expect waves of soaking showers and storms Saturday.

Our place is a few miles North of CL and the river bottoms are still pretty flooded.

0.85” so far, according to Davis Jr., Sammy on the swing set, with more coming up from the south. Should pass an inch easily with that round.
EDIT--we ended up with 1.17" storm total from that round.

Summerish storm pattern the next two days before cooler pattern takes control. Hard to time, hard to pin down storm clusters and small line segments along outflows that have little upper level support but plenty of CAPE. Spells heavy rain and some near severe wind gusts.

Models sure backed off on storm chances the past 24hrs or so...some have nothing here at all until Wed AM. But I'd bet we'll see at least scattered storms around with daytime heating and subtle shortwaves and outflows around like you said. Rain hasn't exactly been hard to come by lately.

Yep classic quick pulse thunderstorms! In and out and scattered. Not everyone sees storms!

The storm chances decreased a lot for today and tomorrow from what was forecasted last week. Though as you and Chris allude to, plenty of CAPE and instability in the atmosphere. Pulse cells can pop up quickly!

KSTL must have been a dry spot for rain totals in the month of May. 6.04" recorded. 4.82" is the normal. Many other areas had significantly more rain!

Michael, IL had a terrible flood a couple weeks ago with those stationary thunderstorms. People that had lived there for decades said they had never seen it that bad after the creek came up.

May provided nearly 1/2 of the year to date rainfall. 11.17" for the month. Total for the 2024 as of May was 23.25". One big event can really skew numbers.

Looks like AccuWx Pro got the new AI-based EURO...the EC AIFS. Be interesting to see how that performs.

.29 this morning to keep the hose reeled up I think I've only had to water my plants like twice this year...the rains have been timed well to keep a good level of moisture. I hope it keeps up!

Only thing I've watered are new plants and transplants. I only really grow berries and the landscaping though.
