The NWS added a couple more layers of counties to the flood watch to the north. All of the St. Louis metro is in a flood watch now. The 12Z ECMWF just jumped way north.
If the heaviest band of rain does end up right along I-44 I'm going to start looking at these AI models more regularly.

They were days ahead of the non AI models in picking out trends in systems. I should probably start paying attention to them more.

That's a boatload of water south of I-44 heading this way. Though it looks like we'll be on the NW edge at this point.

not at all surprised with the northward jog. Fortunately, I am not in the business of drawing graphics so a general along and south of 44 hold true, even for Warren and St. charles Counties, because geographically I consider them in that geographic region of being along I44. The northward jog with the EC supports the FFW even back to Columbia to the west and Lincoln county as well. Fasten yo seatbelts everyone. Going to be a long 24 hours.

Snowman, I just seen a report on my railroad blog that a road railer container Train derailed in Washington near Highway 100. Have you heard anything about it?? Possibly weather related??? Edit: Just seen John's post of the Amtrak, wonder if it's just one derailment or two??

My house just experienced its first flood since I moved in 2015
We have a creek behind our house, probably a solid 40 yards
Our house is at least 10-15 foot above water level
It got right to the edge of our house
And of course, I arrived to Florida 2 PM today my neighbor can assess the damage friendly outside
Hoping our basement isn't ! BACKSIDE ! swimming pool

21z SREF took a noticeable jog back to the northwest and ramped up totals in a concentrated band right over metro STL.

The story said it struck a downed tree and the rear of the locomotive derailed. The pic shows the front trucks of the locomotive are on the tracks that makes it look like it was taking a crossover to another track but the rest of the train is on the other track.🤔🤔

Radar looks pretty juicy, I think STL is in for a soaking. Everyone keep an eye on their weather machines! Of course I’m on vacation in the quad cities taking my young boys to see the John Deere pavilion and Caterpillar in Peoria! Hopefully BRTN gets the water he needs! Currently praying my basement doesn’t succeed to the water while I’m gone!

Look at that max band setting up over the metro and points NW while the southerners are stuck in the pockets of sleet and freezing drizzle. Oh wait never mind it’s July!

Been under a persistent subsidence band this morning with only a couple tenths so far. Looks like the rain shield is slowly filling and bulging N/NW.

I have to say the AI assisted models did an amazing job setting up this scenario and have been very locked in the whole way with only minor variations. They do look a bit smoothed, ensemblish... but I don't mind that. We (and the models) aren't good enough to get that specific to show lolipops here and there that will most likely not exist. I like the blended look. It's cleaner and easier on the eye and easier to explain honestly.
