yep, it was a pure humidity broiler. Ugh. I'm in my mid-40's, and it never fails to amaze me how quickly we move from that to "wearing hoodies in the bone-chilling breezes of mid-October". It feels like it flips almost overnight. And I'm here for it, soon. I've said it on here before, but I absolutely get crabby this time of the year. I work a lot of side work on the weekends(decks, siding, roofing etc), on top of football practice/games every evening during the week. Just completely burnt out on heat/humidity by the time September 1 hits. That first cool front, with the long range of cool weather, puts life back into me. I can't remember if it was 2018 or 2019, we had a really warm/dry October that year, very annoying. Then a few weeks later we had a snow day. haha It doesnt help that every year recently has the hottest week near the end of August. Ugh.

102 F is the high for the day. Even though it tied the previous record the year does get replaced with 2024. Would think with a tie they'd enter the record as 1881/2024 instead of kicking the old date to the curb *shrug* Or go to the decimal place to give the record to whichever one is higher

We are going to pay for this at some point right? Been some hot days but no stretches of crazy heat and the NW flow has been our friend. Getting into the end of July and being able to say that is really something. Hoping we dont get 100+ with 80+ dewpoint for several days in August like last year.

Yeah 100/80 dew is about as bad as it gets here. Between 115 and 120 heat index. Hoping to not repeat that pattern.

I am definitely going to miss MoSue’s posts. I hope that she didn’t have to suffer too much. Rest in peace, and condolances to her family.

Wow... what a day! I am finally home. I saw both 2017 and this year's and agree this was better! For starters, it wasn't hot and humid... it was mild and dry...just perfect weather! Hanging with the SLU meteorology students, launching balloons, was a blast! The greatness of the day was not tarnished by the nearly 7 hour drive home! Traffic was BRUTAL! But nobody was too riled up about. I thought everyone went with the flow... riding the high from the eclipse. We were definitely blessed with an amazing day. I cannot lie, I actually teared up a little at the fact that I was so priveleged to be part of it. Same here, was holding back tears due to the beauty of it and how everything came together so perfectly. I don’t think that day will ever be topped for me weather wise. It was spectacular and worth every inconvenience.

Just got back. Otherworldy. One of the coolest things ive ever seen. The way the light ripples when totality was almost there, huge flash of light when totality started and stopped, the corona, bugs going silent, falling to the ground and crickets chirping, the incredible 360 sunset, something I will not soon forget. My one year old daughter was even staring and ponting at it, yelling sun! That 4 mins and 5 seconds will be forever burned into my brain. I was soooo stressed about the weather and it ended up being absolutely perfect. So who’s going to Egypt in 2027?

Me and the wife are bringing our 1.5 year old daughter and dog to the bank of the mississippi from the Illinois side, near Carbondale. We will see how it goes with the 1.5 year old. She may not remember it, but I certainly will. Hoping for clear skies and safe travels for all.
