My dad texted me that it's starting to sleet fairly heavy on the west end of Union. Yes...really...there's weather in Union. :-P

They seem to keep dropping the amounts of snow in my forecast. Can I assume its because of more sleet and less snow?

Heard the storm warning got extended to 6p tonight. Is that for all of St Louis metro or because it’ll still be snowing in Illinois? Or SE MO? it's for everyone How much longer you think we have for snow in Franklin Co.? I’m thinking 3-4pm. Thoughts?

Up to about 6 1/2” in my backyard. That means I’m getting about 1/4” per hour. Hard to tell from the radar how much longer it’ll snow here, but my guess would be most of the daylight hours. Hoping to get to 8. Might be a stretch. Great forecast all the way around though.

Sitting right at 6 inches total in WashMO. no complaints here. Not much movement west to east in the radar. Looks like we’ll be getting it for most of the day. does that include yesterday? or just overnight? Total. Both days.

At SLU, I learned to operate on < 5 hours of sleep. Depending on the situation, I still can nearly 24 years later. Went to SLU as well. Cheers brother Billiken! And yes, during my SLU days, I operated with an hour or less of sleep at times. I need at least 4-5 hours as I creep closer to 40. Tired hits me so much faster lol Got my MA from SLU on very little sleep. Can I be a part of this Billiken lovefest?

If you live in: These two cities are 40 miles North North East & 60 MILES NW OF STL Brighton Troy, MO THESE CITIES ARE GONNA GET 8-14" Moscow Mills Jerseyville Hardin Calhoun county (including... swamp lake, NUTWOOD 12 Mile Island Winfield Litchfield Montgomery Gentry City So yeah that's the cities off the top of my head that are in the Goldilocks zone. Then there is: Warrenton WINTERZZZZVILLE OFFALON, mo Saint "EXAGGERATION" PETERS Brussels NORTH SAINT CHUCKY GRAFTON Pier MARQUETTE COON CREEK ROAD ALTON EASTERN ALTON WOOD RIVER(STINKY TOWN) FLORISSANT NORTH CHEATERFELD. THOSE Cities are like gods looking down on the losers in RAINSBURG The folks North of 70 have a winter storm watch level icy event(sleet) coming... They also have the MOST CHERISHED(HEAVY SNOW WARNING) coming... Yeah I am jealous. This sucks I am playing nice. Anyone up North enjoy the event. My people's down here know those bloated totals on the Southern edge are 80 percent to high. This is how I'm coping with the huge disappointment that's coming You did forget that Union will be sunny and 65 through the duration of the event.

So is it safe to say as the storm continues with the dropping temps that they ratios will get better? I’d think we’d go from a pretty wet snow to a drier snow the deeper into this that we go. Am I wrong? Yes. Obviously, most will have a period of sleet. Once we transition over to snow we should start to see 9:1 and 10:1 and then slowly upgrade to 13-15:1 at the end of the event. As most have alluded too, ratios are always tough to nail down and aren't always dependent on 2m temps. Thanks! I teach 6th grade science. I’m thinking of teaching the dynamics of a winter storm tomorrow and Tuesday since that may be the only days we get to school this week.

I’m a novice and don’t totally know how to read these charts. What is this showing. Sorry. The red line is the vertical temp profile and the green line is the dewpoint. The dashed white lines are slanted temperate references lines in Celcius. When green and red lines are close together the atmosphere is saturated in that layer and droplets or ice crystals can form. Notice that the lines widely diverge above the second horizontal white line labeled 850mb (about 1500m above surface) so no droplets/crystals can form above that. Ice crystals typically form best in the layer of atmosphere between about -10C to -20C...but that won't happen here. Where the lines are touching (saturation) it's above freezing so only droplets will form (really as long as it was above -10C where saturated you'd still get mainly droplets). Since the near surface layer and roads are very cold and saturated there would be no evaporation of droplets and they will freeze on contact efficiently. Thanks! I need to screen shot this so I can use it again in the future to read these.

It shows saturated lift occuring over the top of a surface temp of 24 degrees! I have some signficant concerns about freezing drizzle tomorrow morning. The biggest concern isn't for main roads. There is more salt on those things than we could need for the next month. However, neighborhood roads, driveways, sidewalks, stairs, decks, etc. that have not been treated will be a big deal with significant potential for slip and fall injuries tomorrow morning! Thank you. We’re leaving WashMO around 5am for a swim meet in Jefferson City. Trying to decide if it’s worth the trip.
