Results are In. About half our family has the flu. Happy it’s not Covid but I’m on day 6 now. First time in my adult life I’ve ever had the flu. Flu strain is rough on people this year, and widespread. Hopefully your about over the hump.

Bit off topic, but I'm thinking about getting my Part 107 License for a drone. My guess is that some of you have gotten it already. If so, where can I find info on reading metar and taf reports. Also, what is the best way to study for it. I know there are a lot of YouTube videos out there, but my guess is that most are a waste of time. TIA. [ www.dronepilotgroundschool.com/This is who I used and have sent several people Through to complete part 107 certification

Dipped down to 19* this morning at KFAM. Frost is so heavy it’s even covering the trees, almost looks like a morning after a ice storm.

I got to spend the day today with Mr. Glass and Mr. Britt of NWS St Louis doing damage surveys in St Francois and Ste Genevieve counties. It was very informative, certainly taught me a lot about assessing damage taking the overall picture into consideration and not getting too focused on damage you might see to an individual structure. Both are obviously very good at what they do and very knowledgeable in their field. And kudus to Mr Glass who was issuing the warnings Sunday night, he kept ahead of the rapidly developing situation and should receive the credit deserved for no doubt preventing serious injuries and/or the loss of life.

Any survey done at Annapolis? No tornado or other office's responsibility I believe the Paducah team was going to be looking at that.

Could the cloud cover help keep the severity of these storms down? Not likely

Nothing that's not already been advertised come from the conference call, other than overall confidence is increasing as to widespread severe weather today and an increase in Significant hail is more likely from central MO into NE MO. Did inquire if they expected an upgrade to moderate in the next package by the SPC, and they stated they were on the fence but do not expect it. They said its close, and should be treated as such, but likely will not get the moderate tag.

Latest GFS kinematic environment would support severe weather on Sunday (including tornadoes possibly), but lack of good thermodynamics due to clouds, marginal lapse rates, and inhibition make it iffy. It does show convection breaking out in sw/mid-MO by late afternoon though. If things trend this direction with tonight's models there will almost certainly be a D3 slight risk probably extending all the way to Stl. [https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day3otlk.html And your Day 3 30% hatched severe outlook has been delivered

Pop up storms may be back on the menu again today Mr. Glass NWS STL just provided an update, overall he stated conditions are not as favorable as yesterday for strong/severe pulse storms with lesser amounts of DCAPE, less steep low level lapse rates, lower low level delta thetae values and lower values of the microburst composite index. And the most favored location today appears to be setting up a tad further south than yesterday, centered thru southeast MO and southwest IL, noting once storms form that outflows will shift that risk with time. STL metro remains on the northern bounds of the more favored region attm.

Potentially a bad set-up today in WI for Oshkosh AirVenture 2021, with over 50K people and over 8K aircraft spread out on the grounds at EAA.
