Over 2” here now and big flakes still falling. It’s nice to see a storm over perform for once. (Except for Chris’ forecast) I may have forecast snow tonight, but It would be dishonest of me to claim that I saw this much snow coming. It has out performed even my expectations. Never saw this coming

Had 11” in crestwood on that one We got a rock in Marissa with that one. Maybe an inch, if you closed one eye and squinted really hard. And I think most of that was sleet.
That was a very narrow band of that heavy snow- I'd say less than 20 miles wide

This system is definitely living up to the billing of "interesting" I just peaked over at the 12z Icon... and it is very slow pulling this thing together and really doesn't bring snow into the area until Tuesday night. But does show an narrow, but impressive looking band setting up over eastern/southeastern Missouri. In some ways... this system reminds me of the March 2008 storm that exploded right on top of us...with that super narrow mesoscale band that dumped 10 inches in a little more than 2 hours at my place in Chesterfield. Easily the heaviest snow I've experienced as an adult. I think it was this one... www.meteo.psu.edu/ewall/NARR/2008/us0304.phpHad 11” in crestwood on that one

To me... the upper level features on the Euro this afternoon do not line up with the surface features. I will guess the later runs will again shift south.

Storm system for Thursday Night into Friday is the perfect Memphis Low track which would of been golden for snow across the I-70 corridor and points south... To bad no cold air is present, so it's all rain. Memphis if further north than I thought.

Not to be pessimistic but the entirety of Winter into 2024 looks that way. Might be the year of the no Winter. Some of the outlooks coming out of surrounding TV stations don't look promising either. Doubt we'll be any different. You held our pretty long before canceling winter this year Ahhh... the annual early winter cancel.

The small circle above the 150 on the scale is Otis. Looks like it really took advantage of the RER of that jet

I got a room at the Drury Inn in Cape back in April of 2021 for this April. I thought the 2017 eclipse one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Seen a few tornadoes too.

I would certainly lean toward Euro numbers vs GFS. GFS has been way too hot all summer

Seen a lot of tropical systems off to the SW of Baja over the years- seen a lot of 600 ridges over the central U.S over the years, Just so happens they are set up just right to bring this into Southern California. It's weather.

Storms are trying to develop out west but seems like they are struggling to establish updrafts...not sure if there's some capping or what Yep... lapse rates are pretty weak- less than 6*c/km where they are developing. Lapse rates are a bit better south & east.
