Did watch a report out of Denver that those in that state who get natural gas from suppliers other than XCel Energy are getting hit by jumps in their March bills of several thousand percent because they buy natural gas off the same open market that caused the billing hikes in Texas during the February freeze.

Since I took all the advanced science and math classes my high school offered (it was a fairly small high school) I wish such an ambitious project as the weather balloon was available at my high school. It might have changed my career path.

Awesome. Did it change direction? Metropolis seems west of trajectory No, they don’t actually live in Metropolis. The location was actually right on line with where we thought it would be. It is literally right on the line that I drew. The lady who lives there saw something weird in her pond. She called her son (who had seen the social media posts) and he figured it had to be the balloon. Her husband fished it out. It looks to be in pretty good shape all things considered. What’s even crazier is that as we were talking we figured out that the guy’s cousin is my dentist! I love the dentist story, too. Six degrees of Kevin Bacon.

It's the curse of the great snowstorm of 1890. It's extracting revenge for no longer holding the record for biggest snow.

Man this outage has been going on for hours. If this happened during a major tornado outbreak or something, it would be VERY bad. Yikes. They have to wait for Best Buy to open to get a new computer

We didn't realize how much rain we had overnight until the wife opened the blinds this morning and saw the adjacent detention pond, usually dry, had as much water in it as it's had in a couple of years

NWS has February snow event summary up. Link. One interesting thing to note. Previously I couldn't find an instances of accumulating snow with temp in the single digits going back to about 1945. They had the data going back to 1890 and found 2 instances of accumulating snow with air temp 5F or below...both in 1912 oddly enough. Just highlighting how rare this is in St. Louis. At the time Glenn mentioned that the last time it happened was 1940. I thought he said that came from the NWS. But maybe I'm misremembering or that wasn't accurate.

When it's rainfall not too many people upset when the totals come up short of the prediction or the focus goes further south than expected.

I just found out that apparently Starship10 exploded on the landing pad. A successful hop and landing though. Wonder what happened? Wow Amazing that no one was hurt since I would think there would be people moving in to shut it down and stabilize it immediately after it lands

Coulda been worse...at least it wasn't a nuclear missile strike warning. Or it could have been a real tornado for which no warnings were issued.

I predict
1) no matter the weather we get at least one person will complain that it's not some other weather
2) February will have 28 days this year and March will have 31.

Ya know unclesam I once read an article several years ago about where weather forecasting was hardest in the US. I don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure Denver was way up there if not number 1 hardest. Mountains just make weather more complicated. Nothing really related to your snow delimena, just thought it was interesting.... Lotta' microclimate stuff because of elevations and changes in elevation. I just know on my honeymoon in Winter Park the first week of June we were getting several inches of snow and at the same time there were tornadoes and severe weather on the plains of eastern Colorado

Is it bad that the radar in this clip is better than the new NWS radar? That radar was on 24/7 if you had local cable in the late 80s. And I agree the new NWS radar is horrible. So disappointed You mean like this?
