Been there already. Wasn't impressed. The drinks were the big to-do and they were overpriced and fru-fru. The food was a couple of levels above standard national chains, but we didn't think it was worth the money. Thanks for that. I was super curious. My wife and I don't eat out near like we used to but always willing to try something new or recommended. We don't drink anymore either, not sure if that's showing causation or if that's just background noise.🤔🤪🤪😁 My wife never drank and I don't any more. So the fancy drinks weren't a big draw for us either.

I don't have 'first hand' knowledge, BUT, went to Firebird's after the Train Show on Sat and was told we would have a 4.5 hour wait. This was at 4:30pm. We could have set 7 of us at 2 separate 3-4 chair tables but that is no fun. We asked about call in reservations and was told that was a 5 day waiting period. WTH So it 'must' be pretty good. Pretty pricey too. If you go, post back a review please. Been there already. Wasn't impressed. The drinks were the big to-do and they were overpriced and fru-fru. The food was a couple of levels above standard national chains, but we didn't think it was worth the money.

On the bright side we only have 50 days till spring. The days are getting longer, rt? Generally I get up about 630 am. After last week's clouds this morning I noticed there was some daylight on the horizon at 630. First time since last fall.

Completely off topic...
Does anyone know of a good non-chain steakhouse or seafood restaurant near I-70 in the St. Charles, St. Peters, O'Fallon area?

I used to follow JB when I was younger, no longer do. As for our weather looks like dense fog and also mist here and there is going to stick around until our third round of rain bubbles up from the SW to the NE after 9am (10-11am in the STL metro tomorrow. There may be some fog that lingers tomorrow afternoon but it should dissipate. It's taking awhile for the ground to warm. There was still hard frost about 2" down yesterday. Definitely a slow thaw. Hard to thaw the ground with no sun. Even a weak winter sun is better than none.

Is the rain that falls in the next few days going to help the drought? Or is the ground too frozen from the last ten days that the rain won't soak in?

That fire truck video was on the 5 o’clock news along with interviews! I'd bet it's making the news all over the country, if not much of the world, in the next few days.

35⁰ for the last couple of hours. North facing driveway and sidewalk are still ice covered. Street is looking pretty clear; mostly dry.

Then there is the 00z NAM which is nearly bone dry through 10am. 00z NAM3k is almost bone dry too. So it's not just snow that leaves St. Louis out in the cold?

Oh, sure when we're getting snow and we don't want temperatures to rise then they go above freezing in a hurry. But when we're getting ice and we want them to rise that's when they take their sweet time going above freezing.

Estimating 1½ inches here given the wind. Grass is mostly covered. Streets are mostly just wet, especially since the salt truck came through without the blade down.

Still snowing at 1 AM and the wind is starting to pick up. I'm looking through my cameras which are in night mode so it's a little hard to see but I think the grass is covered.

Officially we've had 6" of snow at Lambert this winter. That means we've essentially doubled the snow total of last winter. So when you think about how bleak this winter has been it could have been worse.
Just food for thought.

Listening to KMOX at 5:00AM (after the Our Father & Star Spangled Banner) to hear our school’s name was got me first interested in snow. We were in the parade of Saints so it took forever. And the list wasn't in alphabetical order, either. So you had to listen to EVERY school name.

I remember when it took six inches of snow to cancel school. Times have sure changed. Not better, not worse, just different. We have the cold this time as an added factor. Although in my school days the schools never closed for the cold unless the building lost heat or something similar.

Ice on the rivers will be impressive the next couple weeks. Angela Hutti just reported the Grafton and Brussels Ferries are shut down because of ice on the rivers

-9* in Brighton this morning. Was checking the yearly lows on the station and since 2014 we've gone below zero 9 out of 10 years. These severe arctic outbreaks seem to be getting more common. I can remember several discussions on here about ideal conditions required to get below zero. Then, when it happened it was kind of the same reaction as a 6”+ snowfall. But, now it does seem like any time a lobe of the PV decides to grace us with its presence, our ability to go below zero has become much easier. Used to be, gotta have 2” of snowpack at least, light winds, heck, even the moon phase mattered. Now though, we do it with 15mph winds and bare ground. Think what this morning's temperature would have been if we did have 6 inches of snow on the ground.

This map is WRONG! There's no hole in the colors over St. Louis. Each crayon stroke is a low pressure track. The least dense part of the map is our wheelhouse and these lows are going straight over our heads Then there should be no crayon marks on the bootheel. ;-)
