WTH is going on with NWS radar. Why can't I get a damn 10 minute loop out of Peachtree. The radar still appears to be operating. I know this is the 3rd or 4th time I have commented on the new NWS radar, but can anyone defend this crap. If there is a technical reason I don't know about I will back off, but nothing I have seen out of their "new update" has impressed me. Radarscope. You can get it on all platforms. That crap from the NWS isn't even worth wasting your time on.

Forecasted LCL's from the ECMWF on tomorrows severe outbreak? Just a casual 30-35m... or 100ft off the damn ground. Impossible chasing conditions considering the terrain and large pine vegetation there.
SPC once again considering a high risk in the next update.

Was doing some area averaged soundings off the ECM/UKM/GFS for pretty much the entire states of Mississippi and Alabama. They are pretty sick on Thursday. Last week's outbreak sequence from Texas to the Carolinas featured a lot high end outlooks and tornado counts but so far not a single EF3+ and no fatalities (that I'm aware of). Will the South's lucky streak keep going? If you throw enough darts... One met on twitter pointed out how the environment in both cases have shown very little capping-- leading to too much activity in the convective field for anything to become super established... but as we saw with that stuff last week, if something can develop on its own, it has no problem spinning. Will be interesting to watch this unfold once again.

GF got moderna. Nausea, vomiting, fatigue and loss of appetite. Also has a fever. Hoping it passes in 24 hours. She says this is how she felt for 4 or 5 days New Years '19/'20-- a couple months before covid was "here". This thing had to have been running wild well before the gov't said anything last winter.

Quick morning shift thought today: Chris' handle is fox2ch. Until today I thought it was Fox 2 Channel... when in fact, it's Fox 2 Chris Higgins abbreviated.

the clustering of those cells near Birmingham may have inhibited an intensification of that main supercell. Another tight hook from Selma.
Can't imagine what meteorologists are going through down there. Must feel like your head is spinning like a top.

Holy effing sh** So this is what a high plains blizzard looks like. Easily the worst conditions I've ever seen in my life. I dont think I've ever been scared of having to drive out in winter weather before. This is a first. My gf's pops has a big truck to get me to work this AM.. the elantra isn't going to cut it in this...

Ya know unclesam I once read an article several years ago about where weather forecasting was hardest in the US. I don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure Denver was way up there if not number 1 hardest. Mountains just make weather more complicated. Nothing really related to your snow delimena, just thought it was interesting.... Lotta' microclimate stuff because of elevations and changes in elevation. I just know on my honeymoon in Winter Park the first week of June we were getting several inches of snow and at the same time there were tornadoes and severe weather on the plains of eastern Colorado It also amazes me that dew points in the low 50s are prime for big severe weather here.

Nothing really related to your snow delimena, just thought it was interesting.... It's been nutty. Between banding, pinning down where upslope sets up and accounting for the wide variety of terrain over a small area... I'm just glad we usually dont have to ever worry about ptype before March.
