Top the heat off by sitting at a fastpitch softball tournament being played on slowpitch fields that aren't being watered. Heat, humidity, dust. Yummy.

Perfect day to smoke some pork bellies and have some hop flavored water! Pretty sure I have the exact same grill. Chargriller brand? I also did the same thing yesterday with the offset heat on some ribs and chicken wings. I usually don't do the water pan though. Do you find that makes a bi difference in not drying the meat out?

Yes, chargriller. I use the water pan more as a heat defuse. Blocks more direct heat from the meat. So, yeah, huge difference in dry vs. not dry. These are so fatty I dont want them to render too fast before the braising part. I love this grill!

I really like that grill too! The thick cast iron grates are awesome for one. Not all grills have those anymore. Did you get the side smoker box that the company makes? Been meaning to just haven't gotten around to it. Have had my grill 4 years now and its holding up well.

Anyone see the awful damage from 6-8 inches of rain has done to the southern part of the Keeweenaw peninsula of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan? FB has many of them. Roads are impassable and broken up.

Roads are impassable and broken up. Yeah, I did. Major washouts. Wish we could get a little more even distribution on that rain. Like maybe getting a third of it here and a third in the Texas panhandle.

102.7 on Davis here in st.peters stiff west wind heating us up. Something doesn't seem right here. I'm just south of MO-94 in the St. Peter's area I just measured T=94.8 and Td=72.0 on my Amprobe THWD-3 thermometer. That is in pretty good agreement with Smartt, Spirit, and Lambert airports and the various other personal weather stations. Are you getting contamination from a nearby heat source or direct sunlight?

It is doubt it is 102 anywhere around here I think his station is in the sun or mounted in a bad spot. My cheapo Acurite is always too hot and it is mounted on my kid's play house in the corner of the backyard and I'm only reading 96-97F.

Up to 4 volcanoes erupting recently. Japan a couple of days ago and Galapagos in the last 24 hours. Ring of fire indeed, although Kilauea isn't technically a part of it

I really dont think this heat is all that bad. Yes, it is hot and humid...but I honestly don't think it is that aweful. Maybe my body chemistry is changing...but I am sitting outside and it is not all that uncomfortable. I think some people need to toughen up a bit

well it's been hot for a month and a half. Some people have acclimated to it, and yes, it's been hotter. I, on the other hand, hate it more and more every year.

Hot for sure but it doesn't feel worthy of an excessive heat warning, IMO. I assume duration played a role in hoisting that up... And being the first one in season. In July or August this doesn't merit the warning sure it does. Criteria is heat index of 100-104 for 4 straight days. That doesn't change just because we're deeper into summer. Or it's also if heat index is 105 or greater on any day.

I think some of you all need to do manual labor out in the heat and humidity and see if it still feels “not all that bad” 😊

I just looked at the latest Euro and while the newly upgraded ECMWF has seemed a bit squirrely lately, today's 12z run really takes the cake. It has some sort of uh [imagine me cringing here] "tropical-like" system developing near Laredo, TX at hour 138, deepening, and making it's way up near Topeka, KS at hour 240. Ummm....no.

I think some of you all need to do manual labor out in the heat and humidity and see if it still feels “not all that bad” 😊 Oh I have been. I'm not saying it isn't unpleasant...just that it is not as unpleasant as some previous year's heat waves with Td's in the mid/upper 70s. This feels more like a "normal" heat wave...vs an exceptional one. But then again, my senses with regard to heat have never been the same after deploying to the middle east 10 yeqrs ago.

My bro in law lives in Colorado and is from here, and heard the Dust Bowl mentioned out there about MO by their meteorologists!
