There is a 600 DM contour showing up on the GFS next week but for various reasons I'm thinking triple digits are not a concern at this time.

So much fun mowing this morning! Just plain putrid out there! Went outside, threw some water on particular plants, came back inside. Whatever to gardening today. Just calculated my heat index, it's 111.8. Bleeeeh.

Ok, 3 stations all around me are reporting about the same temp of 95 Degrees and 80 Degrees Dew point with a heat index of 115. However the Airport here in town is reporting 86 Degrees with a Dew point of 77. Heat index of 97. Very odd.....

There were lots of 80+ dewpoints in IL with HI's at 110+ today so I believe your reading.

There were lots of 80+ dewpoints in IL with HI's at 110+ today so I believe your reading. What gets me is the networks use the Airport numbers for the broadcast. So it's going to show a lot lower then it actually was. It usually is a degree or two lower then I am. But that is a little drastic. I thought that maybe a pop up hit it making it lower, but all I see in the loop is ground clutter.

Not all that excited about storm coverage or severity tomorrow. There's quite a bit of instability sure but shear looks absolutely pathetic. Was cherry picking some NAM soundings in the area and found one with 1kt of 6km shear. Lapse rates aren't much better either. Even still a dying storm can sometimes produce some severe wind. And in fairness the 3k NAM doesn't look as bad...which isn't saying much. So in this case I think marginal risk is sufficient.

Lot of water in western Missouri into northeast Oklahoma. Sure would like to see that get across the state.

East Pacific tropical season is off to a record breaking start. Fabio has formed and I believe this is the earliest "F" storm in that basin.

Surprised no one has mentioned the STWA that was hoisted by SPC...almost as surprised to see one posted! Thinking any severe will be pulse in nature given the meager winds aloft...but plenty of instability out there.

So... they put a watch out for today's event... but we have to all but beg them to put one out for Thursday night? Am I missing something?

How much lead time did the watch come out for the metro before the storms hit Thursday? An hour? Almost not even worth putting out a watch at that point.
