I would ride a Duck again if I went anywhere that had them. If you don't ride a Duck out of fear of sinking, then you shouldn't fly either. Planes crash, with more frequency then Ducks sink. Might not want to drive anywhere either. Come on people, living in fear is not the way to do it, the terrorists will win. Certainly you aren't equating a Duck boat to a modern day 737? We aren't even in the same ballpark. I won't ride a Duck today for the same reason I wouldn't ride a Duck 15-20 years ago. They are just not safe. This tragedy doesn't alter my thinking, it just reinforces it. These floating/driving death machines should probably be taken out of service.

Considering they have been operating for decades on a daily basis and have only had a handful of incidents, statistics say the duck boats are fairly safe. But obviously given the right set of conditions they can become dangerous and there needs to be guidelines in place to prevent that from happening in the future.

Ive been on the ducks down there several times and never felt like I was in any sort of danger. From what I can remember they took safety pretty seriously to. Of course anything becomes dangerous under the right set of conditions, but its clear some vehicle redesign or much stricter safety rules need to be done before they open again.

There will be pockets of rain around...although it is hard to tell exactly when and where...but it looks pretty unsettled.

The official forecast is for 127 today...that would still be like a couple or three degrees shy of the all-time Earth record though...boring.
Any golfers on the forum? I hear Death Valley has a golf course there at Furnace Creak. I bet there's still some tee times available...

I was in Phoenix yesterday. It was a 116. Yes, I know it was a dry heat, but it still felt like I was in an oven.

summer is my fav time of the year. its not abt wx or anything like that. just seems like life in general slows down and ppl, kids included enjoying themselves more. ppl on vaca means fewer traffic problems plus my fav holiday is in summer. contrast that with fall, my least fav...getting everyone back into the routine coupled with meeting eoy deadlines at work...a real nightmare sometimes. in the winter, i like a good snow from time to time and if they do end up moving us all to minneapolis, i may not like the unending cold but my boss says they have climate controlled walkways up there. lol

You can basically walk anywhere downtown while staying inside which is nice when its -25 outside with a stiff breeze

Nws was expecting widespread 1 to 2 inch amounts this weekend. Now chances are 30 and 40%. They keep dropping. Reminds me of last winter
