Some nice rainers but certainly nothing severe. Gotta go down into far southern MO for that.

Drove through a torrential downpour between Belleville and Edwardsville. Visibility was down near zero for a few moments.
I thought we would see some more discrete cells today but instead everything seemed to congeal quickly and become more of a heavy rain threat

There is show on the Science Channel called the Great American Eclipse - One Year Later that started at 7pm. It reruns at 10pm.

Hurricane Lane in the Central Pacific is impressive right now! Much of the model run suite is bringing it close to or into Hawaii but weakening it significantly on approach...could still be a hurricane though.

My husband got the robo-call from the Air Force last night about the hurricane. Interesting how it was going to miss the island right to the south a few days ago, then all of a sudden made a hard-ish right turn.

I'm running through these popcorn showers over Southeast Illinois. Some of them have been fairly robust

Glad to see the Cardinals pick up Matt Adam's from the waiver wire today. I may be a much needed lefthanded batter heading into the stretch run off the bench

Based on recon data Lane may be a category 5 right now. Vortex messages lists 930mb with SFMR measurement of 140kts. We'll see what the next advisory says. I'm curious about cat 5 climatology in the Central Pacific?
