Never know what’ll happen, Chris! I wonder how John Fuller feels? He’s not real young anymore either! Just glad you are still here!

Enjoy retirement, Dave. Congrats to Glenn and Chris. AMS3389 was prophetic with his comment in the last thread Perhaps it was a plant I had no clue. I had messaged Dave back in June about his summer schedule. Just kinda saw this coming. With that, Congrats and happy retirement to Dave! He will be greatly missed. A role model of mine for years! I love weather thanks to his excitement. If we can get him 4 times a years doing long range forecasts, it’s a win for him and St. Louis! I’m happy for Chris and his new role in mornings but bummed at same time. I enjoy Chris and his adventures plus his work on the 11pm. I wonder who takes that spot. Was really hoping he would get chief gig. I’m not a huge fan of Glenn and his style but I guess he had more seniority. Curious on future.

No music in the morning. How about burpee challenges? You can get your workout in while you're at work.

Rule #1 heretofore....any possible snowfall, regardless of possible storm totals, will be referred to as "a little light snow."

Good for Dave! Sad for the “selection” of chief meteorologist.

Wow! Hopefully this will mean Dave will have more time to spend with us in the Corner.
Like so many others in here Dave Murray was a big part of how I became interested in weather. He has a great knack for conveying a forecast everyone can understand without dumbing it down. His presence will truly be missed. Between watching him often and John Fuller visiting my elementary school, a lifelong passion was formed.
Chris, congrats on the morning show! I am looking forward to starting the day with a reliable forecast!

If he's retiring on Sept 15, mark me down as Sept 16 for the first flakes of the year. This is going to be EPIC!

Congratulations to Dave. I hope for a long healthy retirement for him. I tuned in to his forecasts for a long time and watched his long range forecasts with child-like anticipation for a promising shot for a snowy winter. Congrats to Glenn, I wish the best for him with this opportunity. I certainly hope this blog hangs on. I know Chris puts a lot of 'extra' work and effort into it. I still come into here with child-like anticipation of weather events (except for the summer heat and humidity) and I hope I never lose that. Chris, thank you so much for starting this blog and maintaining the integrity of it. I know I have warned family members and friends of dangerous weather from Greenville, IL to Park Hills, MO because of the knowledge within this blog.

Wow, I was so sad to find out Dave is retiring! However, he's certainly earned it. I've been watching him since I was 11 years old when he was on Ch. 5, and even followed him when he went on to GMA, then back to St. Louis on Ch. 2. I saw that Dave commented on FB that he might still do seasonal forecasts...sure hope he will...I look forward to those so much! I honestly thought Chris would be taking over as Chief Meteorologist, no offense meant to Glenn...Dave sure leaves behind some very big shoes to fill. Best wishes to both Chris and Glenn as they take on their new roles. Dave, thanks for all the great years of weather forecasting! Hope to see you hanging out here on The Corner with us a little more often. Enjoy your time with Janis and your fur babies!

Rule #1 heretofore....any possible snowfall, regardless of possible storm totals, will be referred to as "a little light snow." Yea...4 to 8 inches expected within the next 24 hours and we will hear "there will be some snow showers around with some accumulation possible." Lol, sorry can't help myself. I hope this blog continues. There's nothing else like it. Anywhere.

I’ve been visiting it daily since I was 12 which is crazy to think about Same, started following senior year of high school leading up to the Nov. 30th, Dec. 1st 2006 storm. Even during slow times like mid summer I check in daily to see what folks are talking about. If it can survive the last 3 crap winters it can survive anything!

if Chris would have to end his involvement in the site, we would have to find a way to keep it alive, including raising the funds to do so if needed. it's been 12 years, it can't go now.

I don't handle change well. Wishing Dave a happy retirement but we're about the same age and he was a constant for me. I hope all of the changes are good for you Chris. I can't imagine a 4 a.m. shift. I was at school at 6:15 and that was a killer.

I know I have a bias option here but it is a shame that Chris was not promoted to chief. Chris does an amazing job of conveying information to the viewers in a style that very much emulated Dave’s. Chris’ on air shots were spot on, clean and informative. I’m sure Glenn will do a great job but to me, there is obviously much more to the story to come and things we aren’t aware of yet and may never know.
Regardless, this virtual “family” cannot disappear! The wealth of knowledge and discussion on here is second to none and would be missed terribly. Where else would we go to get frustrated over bad model runs, near miss storms, IMBY snow and rain totals and more importantly, information about severe weather you can’t get anywhere else. I come here for the real information, not a forecast crammed into a couple of minutes. I just get an uneasy feeling anticipating not seeing Chris drop in on Facebook with live updates, driving for hours to chase a story or a storm for us all and talking us down off of ledges during snow season.
Change is hard and I’m sure for Chris and his family, this schedule may take a lot of getting used to. That is what is most important here anyways.
Very conflicted I am today.

Folks, you can be conflicted but there's nothing wrong with what happened here. Glenn put in his dues and has seniority. They couldn't have made a bad choice either way, but to go over Glenn to Chris would have been fishy. This is the way it was supposed to go. And Chris is well aware that then he and Glenn being so close in age he's probably not going to step into those shoes if Glenn has a long happy career here. It is what it is
