It’s simmering down in Festus but radar still shows it’s caked in! Going to head into the midst towardsBonne Terre and wait it out at the cabin!

Well what looked like a somewhat active flow over the next seven days with several cool fronts and rain chances has suddenly changed to a very warm to hot and boring pattern. Things are really going to logjam through next week with the storm pattern over the plains and warm southerly flow pumping into our area. Potential of a tropical system developing in the GOM next week which would fit into this pattern.

Hurricane Norman is going berserk. It had 85mph winds at the 8pm update last night. At the 5:30am update this morning, it had 145mph winds. It’s winds increased by 60mph in 9.5 hours. Goodness.

Sure would be nice for it to curve to the northeast and head for the west coast. Not the wind, mind you, but they sure could use the rain. Yeah, I know. It happens very infrequently. But it does happen and it's nice to dream.

Sounds like the GFS caved to the EURO...GFS was a lot flatter with the ridge on Saturday/Sunday with ridge running convection across the region. It looked like a lot of convective feedback to me, erroneously knocking down the ridge.

Yeah, the Eastern Pacific has been very active the last several years and cranking out some doozies. This year is another hyperactive year.

That rain is really hitting a wall but trying to overcome it. Probably some light showers by the time it gets to the STL area.

Glad to see the rain is finally overcoming the dry air. Sure taking its sweet time. Hopefully the thundershowers on the back side hold together and get in to the metro area.

maybe the next week or so will be warm and boring, but tomorrow is September 1st, which means that its time for the annual guess of "when is the first fall cool/cold front* coming through?" This goes out to Chris and anyone else *I'm calling anything with a high of 70-72 or below and lows of 50s or below a true fall cool/cold front, FYI

Watching that rain dry up on radar was amazing. Like watching a piece of paper shrivel up on a fire.

Ok... brian fart here. Hypothetically, if this year in weather resembles 1984, what is that term called?

Not that the 3 month outlooks from TWC are reliable, but they are basically the complete opposite of what Dave predicted (Dave said a warm October, they say cool, Dave said a cool November, they say warm).
