Well...the biggest change in my personal life style since I joined the military is less than 12 hours away. I am not a morning person...much less an up at 1AM person. But that is the job I have been called to do...so that is the job I will do. I hope...when the weather is bad...I can count on some of you (those who stay up late or get up early) to be here...with your incredible flow of information. YOU make this blog....YOU bring real, life saving information to me that I can pass along to the viewers. The resource that you all provide is unmatched in STL television and is greatly appreciated. I rarely have to worry about bad information. I take your reports seriously. The National Weather Service takes your reports seriously! They LOVE you too! So... I promised something you might like. While most of the world was focused on the massive, slow moving disaster that is Florence (and rightfully so) there was another story unfolding that deserves attention! The seasons have started to change. Not here in the Midwest. We are stuck on summer. But as you can see by this webcam picture from Lake Louise in Canada... SNOW has started to fall. Here's to hoping we can work together to cover many snowstorms and fun weather this fall and winter! Thanks for your continued to support everyone!

Let's keep our fingers crossed that we get a good winter storm or two to track this winter as you get into a rhythm with your new role.

We are in Branson enduring the heat and humidity that we are so tired of and we are more than ready for actual autumn not summer in autumn! Hoping the seasons change for the cooler this week!

Out here we have broken a few high temp records in the past week. Don't want snow, but I would love fall weather.

I was heading to Alberta and Alaska before a personal issue required me to return home. There was significant snow forecast for my route. Enough that there were suggestions that snow tires be installed before snow tire season begins October 1. Could have been a very interesting trip.

Seems like cold and snow is off to a fast start in parts of Canada this fall. Hopefully a good thing to get the season started off.

are we still looking at going significantly cooler/less humid than this crap by next weekend? Euro and GFS seem to be disagreeing within their large synoptic projections of the late week wave. GFS says yes, EURO isn't convinced.

Except for Florence the NWS watch and warning map is showing very little going on in the lower 48. Probably won't change much until Florence gets moving.
What did catch my eye was the frost and freeze warnings for southeast Alaska. Winter will be here soon

Ok, here's something that drives me nuts. When the media is covering major flooding, as in NC now, and they say this river is at 45 feet, or this river will crest at 54 feet. Those numbers mean nothing to 99.9% of people. All rivers have different flood levels, etc. If they want to tell us numbers, tell us how many feet above flood stage the river is or will be. If I said the Bourbeuse river in Union was at 25 feet, most here wouldn't what that means. It would be 10 ft over flood, but for the Mississippi river that would be 5 feet below flood. Perhaps I'm just crabby, or reading too much into it. Anyway, I hope your first morning is a good one Chris.

100% agree. Low to mid 70s for lows in September is just plain wrong.
Good luck, Chris!

Since I'm not a morning person either we'll only see you when any significant weather is in the picture. We'll sure miss you evening and night time. What about Storm Runner duty?
We're going to give Glenn a try and know he is a good guy. Just not our style.
Good luck and hang in there! It really will get easier with time.

Had a little fundraiser for Alzheimer's yesterday afternoon. We were down at Borsch Park in Valmeyer. We wrapped up a little after Sunset and I'll tell you the mosquitoes came out in swarms right as we were leaving.

What’s the chances it’ll rain Saturday when we are trying to get a new Holding tank put in to a hole at the cabin that’s been dug since June waiting for the hot summer to be over and now that we plan on this, there’s talk of rain Fri night and Sat am! Argh!
