Could be some severe weather in the middle of the country early next week. Really stout front looks to finally push the SE ridge away. Yeah, I was going to post something about that. I was waiting for the 12Z Euro to come in. It actually looks like a lot of interesting whether may happen in the next 10 days...maybe even a big snowstorm for the northern states. The snowfield across the great north definitely looks to expand in the next couple weeks...still lots of cold air forecast to dive south but the ridge really flexes it's muscle across the SE and pretty well keeps it locked up across the N tier.

Still following him on Facebook - David Koeller's first day in Omaha was today. He did the mid day show. No idea what other newscasts he's working. And he's on WOWT-TV channel 6, Labrat-O'Fallon IL, for when you get there.

Machado could play shortstop here. DeJong could move to Third Base. I'm dreaming of course.
But seriously, if you are going to give a career contract to a guy do it when he is 26, not 30

Dudes a superstar and will finally give the team a legit 3 hole hitter. The cardinals have already shown they are ready to take on a massive contract by having a trade in place for Stanton. Trade Jose Martinez and make Fowler the 4th outfielder

He's a hot head/meat head and I don't want that kind of attitude on the team. We have no place for expensive jerks.

If he wants to play 3rd, then by all means. But you would be really limiting your defense with him at short when Dejong us actually an above average shortstop. I bet if you offered him the most money, he wouldn't care if he played 3rd. The whole shortstop thing going into free agency was just to increase his value, like Harper playing center.

Consider moving Carpenter for highly rated AA pitcher to replenish the farm (Carp would hit 40 dingers in New York and they have a great prospect to bridge our now depleted upper minors). Also, I'll be at Wrigley trolling hard tomorrow. If you see a guy in a red Yadi Jersey, its probably me.

Had surgery on both knees. Right one in 13 left in 14. Played more games in the next 4 years than pretty much anyone on the planet (162, 157, 156, 162). Not exactly crippled yet. Both of those happen late in the season also and really didn't lead him to lose an any appreciable time the next season. No ACL problems

No ACL problems Injuries lead to a heightened risk of future injury, which mitigates the benefits of his unusually young age at free agency. That is all I'm saying. His lateral quickness will also deteoriate quicker than somebody without multiple knee injuries which is why he should play 3rd. Still one hell of a player though. Would love to have him at 3rd for the next 5 years.

From the morning AFD: Heading into early next week, the flow aloft will become so amplified that at some point, model consensus is to stall the front late on the weekend and return it back to the northwest, re- establishing what could be a downright very warm stretch once again. Max temperatures on Monday are forecast in the low-mid 80s, but once confidence on this pattern increases, could easily see near record values again (upper 80s/around 90). This renewal of the very warm pattern could extend for several days into next week. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

If we see gradients like this during the winter we are in for some icy situations.
Models don't show an organized tropical system, but they do have some convection in the Caribbean into next week. The fact that the pattern is going to slam the brakes on makes me think there could be a system develop down there. We have to get that road block out of the way before we can get into real fall. Models continue to push back the big front in the extended, but when it does arrive it'll be quite chilly (i.e. going from summer to late fall/early winter and skipping the good stuff again).

Uh there's Rockies fans cheering the Rockies too. If you paid the money they can't do a damn thing. That's pretty sickening. I'd be calling/writing asking for a refund.

Meanwhile up in Wisconsin and UP Michigan. It's the 3kNAM so it's gonna be overcooked, but damn, this is certainly eyebrow raising. And this is not a convectively contanminated forecast sounding...that's the warm sector environment. If they get some discrete supercells before storms transition to QLCS then look out.

Still early... but if we can hold off on any storms early Saturday- it may be interesting later in the day. Nice exiting jet should bring some good lift Solid CAPE up and thru the hail zone.

Been a lot of disagreement with the timing of FROPA. I would have to hedge on the slower solutions considering how reluctant the SE ridge is to break down. The biggest question is probably the amount of destabilization that is realized with at least broken cloud cover likely.

There are some huge differences between the GFS and Euro in regards to this upcoming storm. And when looking at the 500mb chart it's no wonder. There are some complicated interactions going on with the upper level energy.
The Euro is favoring secondary development that would occur on Tuesday and into Wednesday. The potency of this secondary low is more impressive than the weekend storm. According to the Euro you'd have to consider severe weather from Saturday through Wednesday.
This should be interesting pattern to watch unfold.

The second severe season sure seems like it’s going to be alive and well this year
