Is there a Heat equivalency to the Polar Vortex? I've heard it described on this forum as the "dome of death" but that hasn't made it to mainstream media yet . I'm at 1.5" here in Perryville. Still some good snow falling with some big cotton balls. Most snow I've ever seen at these temps...it has been a memorable winter at this point.

5/8" 4 degrees
Glad that they called Rockwood. Call said that the backroads are crap and that they're having a hard time clearing schools.

00z Icon remains extremely concerning for next Tuesday evening.
Will the other models join or is the German model out to lunch?
It is extremely aggressive with a shallow artic airmass.

Incredible temperature gradient on the icon on Monday. Also still has waves of freezing rain Tuesday and locks in the freezing line way south.

Roads in Wentzville and Lake St. Louis are pretty much snow covered and slick. Chemicals are just not working and the it’s tough to plow 1/2” that’s packed on the roads. They just called off Wentzville schools as well. It’s amazing how much affect 1/2” snow can have when it’s 0 degrees out.

Icon hasn’t been that poor of a model. I mean, it hasn’t been awesome, but it has shown it deserves to be looked at.

Temps on the rebound....I am up to 10* now....Either the WAM is ramping up early or, some heat from the inside of the house got too close to the thermo from the last time I looked outside to see if any snow was falling.

The setup on the 00z gfs and icon look similar.
I would bet a lot of $ that the gfs is missing the intensity of a very shallow artic airmass.
Icon is probably overdoing it.

Models are showing intense cold following our 3 day warmup.
I think we quickly erase the above average temp departure. Especially since single digit temps are soon to be a bigger departure from average than 70 degree temps.

7 miles west of Perryville-2.25”. Snow lightly falling. Came out from refereeing at St. Vincent (Perryville) and 4-wheel drive would not lock in. Not a good night for that-slickest snow I’ve driven in. Roads are completely snow covered and snow blinded everytime a car passed by going northbound on Highway 51.

2.75” and snow tapering off Due east of you so feel confident in my 2/2.5 depending on the “fluffiness”. Will be a busy night and morning for emergency crews.

I think freezing rain and drizzle could be a big problem tomorrow night with temps in the 20’s and a rock solid frozen ground

Does anyone have consistent snow SW of STL. Did up until about 10 mins ago. Not a flake now here in VR. Looks like I’m just shy of 1”. So got about .20” from that last burst.
