February is not kind to St. Louis for snow lovers. I believe it's been something like 25 years since the airport has had a bona-fide winter storm in February. Needless to say big storms are rare for St. Louis in February...at least they have been since the early 90's anyway. Well, we had the big snowstorm on Feb. 1st 2008. But yeah, since then it's been pretty quiet as far as snowstorms go.
Yeah, and it may be splitting hairs a bit, but if I recall correctly most of the snow actually fell on the 31st during that storm.

Congrats Chris, on 25 years with all of us.
So we have something in common and share a date Chris. Feb 1994, was also when the wife and I had decided to become self employed machining and manufacturing, which is pretty scary with 3 kids, 14yo and under. We started with work order #100, and 1 employee. We are now at work order #23,620 and 25 employees. Not bad for a no college self taught businessman.
Werent you here in 93 when we had those big snows in feb chris? Negative. I went on the air February 5, 1994...after the Great Flood.

Ice storm for Chicago, especially areas closer to the lake as winds become more easterly, has bust written all over it if you ask me. And if it happens, then better Chicago than St. Louis . I'm a fan of interesting weather just as much as anyone, but honestly losing power is REALLY annoying.

You dont get much ice usually (there are exceptions) with that kind of temp.

The wording for the NWS up here has it spelled out well.

Looking ahead, Sunday is the next shot of aesthetically pleasing winter weather. A light mix or light snow is possible. No real accumulation.
Then, it is the euro vs. The world for early next week.
The euro has an interesting storm, showing a mix or snow for those north and especially east of 70.
Interesting times still lay ahead.

Oh look...a hydrologic outlook for St. Louis. Like we always say. Winter storms are hard to come by, but you take flooding rains to the bank around here.

Congratulations Chris on 25 years. Thank you so much for this blog. From someone who used to sit and watch TWC in it's infancy even when nothing was going on, looking for the red severe patches in the 3-5 day forecasts.

Winter weather advisory for Columbia proper now. Temp at.my house in st.peters is 34. So I could see some heavy sleet causing some dicey conditions until.er quickly warm overnight

Maybe with your elevation you’ll have sleetageddon while everyone else’s temperature rises all night. And temps did exactly what they were expected to do today rose and held steady in upper 30’s and then continued to rise overnight.

We had a lightning strike very close to our house. It made the hair on my legs stand up. Scared the hell out of me.
