We had a lightning strike very close to our house. It made the hair on my legs stand up. Scared the hell out of me. The fog was so thick on my way home just now, when I saw that lightning there was really no direction to it. Kinda cooll. |

Just drove home from the Galleria area. Lots of fog, patchy light rain. 41 in the car, 38 at home.

Some moderate rain showing on radar moving towards the metro. Lining up pretty close to running over the same areas repeatedly. If they aren't t-storms (for the most part) does it still qualify as training?

Couple of house rattlers here in Arnold Been awhile since we’ve had some good thunderstorms like this Was thinking the same thing. Began missing the dog we had to put down last March. Thunder woke me up and I was able to go right back to sleep. She was so afraid of thunder and I was her protector I would never have been able to go right back to sleep. |

Just glancing (and I do mean glancing) at the FV3 and Euro shows lots of cold and energy floating around in the near future

Ok... the new word of the day comes from the SPC meso discussion for freezing rain in central Missouri...
DISCUSSION...Radar imagery over the past hour (0930-1030z) has shown
an area of convective development displaced 150 mi to the north of
the surface front located along the AR/MO border. A weak QLCS is
moving eastward through the lower OH Valley and in its wake, weak
convective development has ensued within warm advection atop a
shallow/cold airmass located over the lower MO Valley. Temperatures
are currently ranging from the upper 20s F over west-central MO to
freezing in between Columbia and St. Louis. Cold advection at the
surface is relatively weak and suggestive of temperatures likely
remaining above freezing at the western portion of the St. Louis
exurbia. Therefore, freezing rain will likely focus over central MO
where the surface temperatures and weak convection will promote
pockets of freezing rain with rates around 0.05 inch per hour.

Otherwise I'd be pretty jazzed up about early next week. The cold is so darn close you'd think we would have a shot at something decent over the next 10 days. |

I was pretty shocked when I woke up to light rain and 33 in Wentzville. The only thing worse than all this heavy rain is rain and 33 degrees
