You know it's not a good pattern when Seattle is getting more snow than STL. We definitely need the EPO ridge to move back East into it's typical domain. Sunday and possibly Monday could be worth watching though. Models show the mid-level flow veering with time which weakens the lift from WAA but there's still potential for a minor event. Think they got more snow than us last couple years, right? I just recall seeing alot of pics from fb friends up there. Even eugene, OR has been getting alot of snow it seems like last couple years although i cld be wrong. The good news is that i wld imagine this pattern has to be good for the western ski resorts. As far as im concerned we are in normal territory for snow for the entire winter, we hv seen lots of mid latitude cyclones, and the mountainous ski resorts are getting snow, so no complaints. The delivery mechanisms of our snows arent quite typical though...iirc, both systems didnt originate at our classic location and looked pretty iffy in advance. But we got in on action. With such a busy winter it always seems like theres one more late shot of snow in winters like this. They dont last more than a day but it brings a new scenary to the area, so if feb ends up busting for snow, i wldnt toss in the !Drying Cloth! until tax day.

how does 12z euro look for storm next week Tracks too far north monday/tuesday. There is a further south tracking storm late in the week which progs northern mo with ice....rain here....but this time i havent checked the pattern just the significant weather it generates, which probably is wrong...except its consistent with current pattern.

"Start" of Spring is now approaching the Ozarks according to the NPN Index map as of 2/7/19 Should be seeing those buds soon. MJO also a mix today as well with more of a turn to phase 7 then 2 camps with 1 progressing through phases 8, 1, and maybe 2 before into a weak 3/4 phase (warm phase). Another camp just heads into the neutral circle and finally emerges into the heart of the warm phases. SOI values scream active severe weather season in Feb-April for our area and shifting northward into May with Snowman99's favorite flooding rains continuing until late April before we may enter a flash drought in May into August with extreme heat especially in the second half of Summer (nothing unusual there). Spring will be wild swings of warm and cold with increasing duration and intensity of warm as time passes. In the end Spring should average much above normal for precipitation for most of us, and temperatures above average as well with March perhaps more closer to normal, and May the hottest.

Temp is down to 32°. Good thing, as Tilawn speculated, the wind is drying out the pavement here before it has a chance to freeze. Not seeing anything coming down.

If Sunday stayed below freezing, I'd be quite concerned about ice down here. As of now it just looks like about 5-6 hours of it before we warm up above freezing. This pattern is dumb. Either do it or don't.

Frozen pavement at umsl. School officials are frantically salting. Temp 29 in truck. Very strong winds. Also even though some of the pavement dries there is so much residual run off coming out if lawns that it was freezing bad. There was a significant ice patch forming at willot and Jody's drive where the 3 Inches of rain we had is just flowing.out of the lawns. So scattered icing is a MAJOR problem

Temps are dropping down into the 20’s currently , with the light snow and rain/puddles there is still a ton of moisture on pavement and parking lots i expect icy spots to develop this afternoon and evening. Yes there will be a lot of dry surfaces but also a lot of patchy ice and frozen puddles Especially on parking lots and areas with water runoff.

Just checked all my lots and other then a few spots that have runoff from the lawns everything is dried up here. Not worried about those areas as they aren’t walking areas and they will freeze dry overnight as we drop down to the low teens

Parking garages are very dangerous right now this is a flash freeze. There is a huge function at ums today and its definitely freezing much worse than I thought. Them around 1 p.m. when from 35 to 29 in 4 min. Currently 27. The campus facility crews are putting so much salt down the sidewalks are white.

I'm beginning to think MoDOT may need to increase bandwidth for their Travelers Information Map. Any time the weather gets bad, which is when people would need/want to look at it the most, the cameras and message signs take forever to load. If they ever load at all
