I mean I could look at old thunderstorm warnings and compare to old radar images if you want but honestly, I aint paid to do that and am only going off things I've seen.... From elevation of course Well if your business process is dependent on headlines, good luck....maybe you will get an explanation...my hunch is it may not be the explanation youre looking for but maybe your business process shld take something else into account. Its honestly above my paygrade. I've tried figuring out more but sometimes its just whatever and actually just discussing the weather here gets more nuance across anyway. I just like defaulting to the NWS that way I can't claim "well this service is being paid off by xyz" and such

Left the house at 1 PM to take care of some things. There were a few snow flakes when I first opened the garage door. Didn't see any more the rest of the time.

Southerners would be dealing with ice storm Friday on the euro This include Waterloo and Arnold or more Farmington and Perryville? Southern tier of counties So Farmington points south

The Euro has about 9" for the entire metro area through 120 hours.

18z Nam looks great. Very good sign to have it on board. It has caught on to some weakening trends even at the edge of its range this year.

EURO is showing strong mid-level frontogenesis setting up along/S of 70 Friday...could be some bands of heavy snow if that verifies. But as Beaker said it's a fairly quick hit so I'd say a 2-4 or 3-6" event is possible at this juncture.

Is this Friday thingy gonna be Friday evening or Friday night? Timing always does change but right now Friday afternoon into the night hours is a good bet especially before 3am Saturday. Again that’s a rough timeline this far out.

Really liking the 3-6” range with this storm. Looking pretty darn solid at this point and finally within reach.

I'm going 2-4" Jeffco points north and 1-3" south of that with sleet contamination at this early stage. Also wouldn't be surprised to see earlier onset by at least 6 hours than currently shown.

Come on Chris. Start a new thread with a nice snow map with a 6” band across the metro with a donut hole for union.

Thanks, we’ll keep an eye on it so we will know when to deliver a meal for a friend who had surgery! They live out on some of those lovely country roads that everyone just loves to drive on in weather that’s yucky!

Hmm...I'm going to be "measuring" lots of digital snow from the GFS on this run. So you might need a bigger digital box? Maybe. But I think my bigger problem right now is that I'm in a catch-22 situation. I'm not allowed to post model snowfall pictures past 120 hours, but because I'm close to Mount St. Peters I also feel like I need to justify my "measurement" with a picture. You know what they say...banned if you do, banned if you don't...or something like that.

18Z FV3 puts the stripe along and maybe slightly south of I-70.

Nws says 1 to 2 friday right now. Then maybe an inch saturday. Better be more than than. Being conservative is always the right approach to snow forecasting around here
Id be pretty confident in forecasting 2-4" for the metro right now
In reality im expecting widespread 3-6"+ amounts
