That’s a significant change. I think many of us expected those totals to be tamed down a bit from this morning though lol.

18z gem has a nice backside hit of snow.
I would be comfortable with going 3-6 inches at this juncture with the acknowledgment that some could see significant accumulations if the euro is right.
It's an interesting storm. Slightly curious too see the impact of the initial Fgen bamd over Northern Illinois.
Sometimes these things have a mind of their own and dominate. Other times they never really get going.

Pretty encouraging the euro is still showing those beefy numbers over the area. Hopefully the other models can follow suite tonight

So is this govt shutdown thing going to end soon? This is absurd. God, I hope so. But not looking likely this month given current initial conditions.

This has been a wild ride these past three weeks my friends. I can't tell you the roller coaster of feelings that I have gone through. It has helped that the weather has remained active and I have a great staff at work that continue to come to work and do their job as professionals. Can't say enough about the forecasters at WFO LSX. They are great people.

Can't remember how to post pics in here but the 18Z GEFS Mean has a strong signal for the deformation axis to align with I-44 through the metro and into Illinois. This also aligns with the latest CIPS Analog snowfall mean. Certainly has a lot of potential and will keep us busy!

I could do without the 0. The moderate temps bode well with snow chances and it is still looking like a big february, imo. How are you thinking it bodes well? The storm system for midweek was going to be an all snow-maker, but now with warmer temps complicated once again with rain and snow. Long term, not necessarily next next week alone...less suppression.
