Steady light snow here. Great flake size, for it being so cold. Roads are dusted.

Roads have quickly become quite slick in Saint Louis county with the thin coating a very fine snow… it is amazing how we couldn't beg borrow or steal a clipper system the past few years and then this one shows up and come to write down the heart of the metro. Long term pattern certainly supports other clippers in the long range forecast.

Yeah...that's the kind of drifting a blizzard creates. No doubt yesterdays system qualified as a blizzard IMO. I just wish I had a better handle on the evolution of the snow and could have better served the public with a forecast. I guess I can take comfort in the idea that we hit the wording hard...and did have most of SE viewing in 2-4 already... with "blizzard like" conditions. For S/E viewers...I think they were well served by my forecast. But for the have nots who missed it... it was a bad bust. One of the storms when the chacter of the storm "blizzard-like" was nailed... just positioning details off. Paducah was playing catch-up the whole storm. Thankfully, it was a Saturday and the traffic was lighter and schools did not have to worry about running busses, etc. As for the storm, from a teacher perspective, all you can do is see if there is something that was missed and evaluate how you portrayed the forecast. The general public was warned that this storm could have the potential to do something funky. Winds, dropping temperatures were all advertised. There’s always going to be a storm or 2 that isn’t textbook-seems as though we’ve had 2 in 2 weeks .
