The good news for tomorrow AM is that most roads are caked with salt...slick spots should be spotty but definitely a possibility. True......my clients lots have some salt left over as well as the residue is still there from last night. Hoping I dont need to get out in a situation like this. As I get older I hate driving on it even though I know I need to be out in it from time to time for work purposes.

NWS I seen says that temps should rise overnight and have my areas at 33 by 5am......not that the ground will thaw that fast though.

Not even sure how they had school today in Washington unless it was a holiday for them. Every single backroad I’ve traveled just south of Washington isn’t just snow but a sheet of ice underneath. I was in 4x4 and still sliding on my drive home as of this pic at 4:00pm today.

My first time experiencing 4” an hour rates of snow this morning in Utah. Ive never seen hamsters coming down so hard with so little visibility. Alta picked up 17” between 4am and 9am. Hope you guys get something out of this one.

00z Icon has a light hit of snow Friday and then a more potent hit Saturday for the STL metro.
Saturday remains the next best shot at 2+ inch accumulations.

Yypc, if it goes north we won’t as it’s gonna be too warm and it’s usually the case that by the time it gets cold the precip is over! We might have some freezing drizzle! Glad you got good snow! There was a avalanche in Aspen today I heard!

Wow, single digits and snow on Saturday per the Icon. Ratios would be insanely high. Probably a warning criteria event if it played out as modeled.
Obviously that is unlikely.

I could see the Friday clipper dropping an inch or so
Then the Saturday one being much more significant

So, here’s our week ahead:
Tomorrow morning: patchy ZR possible Tuesday night/Wednesday morning: possible backside snow. Probably no accumulation Friday: clipper 1 possible Saturday: clipper 2 possible Sunday-Tuesday: record cold possible

Not sure how fast the Utah snow is moving and which direction it’s headed! We aren’t supposed to get snow til the weeks end! Glad the Rockies are getting the white stuff! They can always use it in the summer so the fire danger is lower!

Not sure of the exact time but KLSX radar is scheduled for maintenance starting tomorrow. We should still have the Hires radar that operates out of Lambert.

I recall a handful of clippers that have dropped 5-10" usually no further South than kirksville.

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason clippers follow the -10C at 850 or is it just something that seems to be more true than not

When you look at the 850 off the penn state ewall- you can really see the clipper move along the -10 850. Probably where I first really noticed it.

I recall a handful of clippers that have dropped 5-10" usually no further South than kirksville. Yea history would suggest that stronger clippers such as that one would go north of us. Then again history would strongly argue against the type of system that delivered the big time snow last weekend. It would also argue against 3 -5 foot snow drifts all across Perry county lol. Mother Nature has thrown us some bones this year to make up for the past 3 "craptastic" years. I think this is the start of another 3 year run of good winters.

There have been a lot of avalanche deaths this year already, including two people skiing inbounds at Taos, NM which is expecially scary.

Wow may be the closest I’ve seen to blizzard conditions here in Denver right now, with blizzard warnings just off to my east and south. I’m ready for the big snows Denver usually gets in the spring. I’ve been here for three years and have yet to see the big one that all the natives talk about. I have a feeling this year may be it with these southern lows showing us how wrapped they can be and with plenty of moisture to work with. It’s pretty crazy how fast the weather changes, we were sitting at 57 degrees and not a cloud in the sky this afternoon and now tonight close to blizzard conditions.
