Radar has a nice band out by KC through Columbia, that still has to come through the metro. I have about an inch now, I think most in the metro will end up with around 3”

.5” measurement just SW of Desoto w/ light snow falling. Hoping this batch coming up from the southwest can put me at 1-2” when all is said & done.

Nice little storm...but still a shadow of what models were showing, lol.

It's funny how the models shifted the heaviest snow south and everyone on here was freaking out....and now it's moved back north across the metro and the southerners miss out on the highest totals yet again. I thought someone said the hp would keep it from coming back north? What happened?

Much better flake size , moderate snow 1/2 mile visibility over an inch , went to the grocery store and crews are out plowing everything

You guys need to chill. You saw .7 right by me. Good God That was 20 minutes after you posted. Right when you posted the radar returns just started to steadily pick up. You have been caught twice straight up lying about your observations. I didn't press you. I asked for a photo and like you did before you posted photos of irrelevant things. Those photos look like you had a half inch at most. It's pretty clear you are not going to stop fabricating your observations.

Surprisingly we have a half inch from the first band this morning. Second batch is starting up now. Try to muster an inch maybe two out of this little turd.

Composite radar shows good lift overspreading most of the area
This should be the meat and potatoes of this storm

The mid-level system looks surprisingly wound up on satellite and tracking pretty much right down I-70.

It's like a salt shaker times a hundred. Between the precip and the wind, visibility can't be much. It also seems to be accumulating very efficiently.

I'm already satisfied with this storm...I'm just glad I didn't get hosed up here. It definitely looks like pure winter out there!

What's the deal with the 30-35 dbz over Jefferson county on the composite.
And a localized snow hole on the base.
How could there be dry air of that magnitude still??

I'm gonna shut up today. I dont need this crap right now from you right now You don't have to shut up. I'm trying to help you man. If you very caught fabricating again. They are throwing away the key brother. You need to start taking photos of your rule in the snow for all your measurements. So you can build up trust here.

What's the deal with the 30-35 dbz over Jefferson county on the composite. And a localized snow hole on the base. How could there be dry air of that magnitude still?? Bubbles of dry air can be surprisingly resilient...there is some DAA in place with a strong N flow in the low-levels. You could tell because dewpoints fell off a degree or two after initial wetbulbing occurred...at least they did here. Earlier the radar had the look that previous storms had with weak/no returns across central IL indicating a deep dry layer on this side of the river. Luckily the stronger lift coming in has overwhelmed that.

It’s increasing in intensity currently but at the onset it was not near as impressive as I would’ve thought based off the radar returns. Flake size has finally increased as well.

I looked out the window at 6am and just barely had a dusting. I didn't look at radar then, I figure it just started. I went back to bed.... See cardsnweather post on page 113. I got up at 8 to what looked like .5" out on the deck railing. I didn't measure it, but I posted this after seeing bororug's recent post of .5" very near me. I have had very light snow since then with vey small flakes. Waiting for this heavier band to go through. Looks like this band will pivot just a hair north of me. Someone posted last night their forecast of the cut off line from more to less at Hillsboro, MO. That is looking to be very close to that forecast, and Chris' new map looks like his line is through or very near Hillsboro. My frustration with the weather models is about complete. Unless looking 2-3 days out is too far still. Snow has picked up and starting to get some bigger flakes. Snow literally just started blowing 180 degrees different direction. Out of the east now. This is looking north out the window with back of the house in a east/west orientation. That could have some effect on that. Enjoy another Sunday winter event.
