Radar looking really good for the metro and 70 corridor. Starting to get that banded "squeezed" look to it which should produce some 1"/hr rates.

What's the deal with the 30-35 dbz over Jefferson county on the composite. And a localized snow hole on the base. How could there be dry air of that magnitude still?? It was over/very near De Soto. I will blame the smokestacks at Rush, Holcim, Buzzi, Baldwin, Lively Grove (Marissa). There has to be 'something' there since it happens so much.

Beautiful wintry scene outside. Mod to heavy snow, flakes have increased in size..maybe dimes right now. Blustery, and some blowing snow. Not too bad.

Only kidding but I'm not sure how all of those near the river are affecting anything on radar near De Soto.

"Blame" really is the wrong word because I have no factual data to say that. I have mentioned the smokestacks a few times only because of the regularity 'dry air' seems to effect this area more. It could be an elevation thing, meaning, being lower elevation to the east of a higher ridge. Mini lee ward type thing. Again, not sure and I don't have extra funding to research it.

Not getting anything much bigger than salt shaker. But getting lots of them so it is adding up. Also getting some blowing off the roof as well as along the ground.

It is snowing heavily here now. M1.4" here in Harvester. ajd, can you take a measurement on a hard surface. I'm wondering if the bed cover is causing contaminated measurements possibly by blowing snow or by getting pressed down by the ruler. I always measure on a hard surface. I have multiple spots I use. My primary spot is a patio table that is away from the house so that I don't get contaminated by blowing snow. I then do a sanity check on other hard surfaces. My ruler has 1/10th inch markers on the left and 1/8th markers on the right side.

Coming down good here with larger flakes finally. Not sure I would call SN+ though. Looks like 1.5" on the ground now but that's a guess.

Grass is almost covered here. That usually means I’m near 2”
My usual measuring spot is contaminated with drifting so I’ll have to go find a new place to measure

This is what I'm saying.
ADJ takes measurements 30 mins before another poster who lives in the same city.
And ADJ has 2".
Which is the highest report so far from anyone on the metro.
The last 30 mins STP has had heavy snow.
And now another poster shows 1.4".
What the??
By now ADJ should have 2.5-3"
