Sure hope to see something break through soon in Farmington as the better looking stuff on radar pushes in. Watching your webcam there, Todd.

270 is already a parking lot near Maryland Heights going southbound I'm working from home today. Sounds like I made the right move. Traffic could be disaster again this afternoon.

MadDog Will love the 12z euro. Northeastern metro would get hammered next week if it can wind up a little bit.

Back to more salt shaker flakes. Intensity has dropped off, too. Going to take a lot longer to accumulate at this rate.

Looks like a solid 2" now at the lake. This has been a very steady moderate snow for several hours now.

Time of day and sun angle are killing the accumulation out in Wentzville, light snow maybe .15-.20” of snow mostly melting on the roads . It’s almost bright outside. This would be way better at night

This would be way better at night It would be way better without an insane level of dry air being constantly advected into the metro. The composite radar shows a great storm. The ground truth is a dry air story

Was snowing lightly with damp roads. While I went to the bank, it died to just flurries. But has now ramped to heavy snow. surprisingly, road out fron still wet, except on some edges.

Dry air is definitely having an impact on precip rates...we've been under 25-30dbz returns for a while and never have broken under 1SM visibility.

Because you can already see on the regional radar North of Columbia the snow going poof. The radar around the immediate metro is about to go poof.

I was hoping for better accumulation on the pavement. I have a doctor's appointment today that I was looking to reschedule on account of the weather. Just wet streets in my neighborhood.

Because you can already see on the regional radar North of Columbia the snow going poof. The radar around the immediate metro is about to go poof. The most recent short term models are even slashing totals 50 miles SW of STL. There is a reason we only average 17" inches a season. And this is the epitome of that. Since the big storm on Jan 9-11th we have been screwed in every way imaginable. And that's normal for us.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this pessimistic about a system before Friv This might sound weird it wasn't until maybe 5-7 years ago I really started to grasp the fluidic nature of the atmosphere. Even though we saturated over the last two hours. That dry low level polar airmass isn't stopping. It's constantly undercutting the beautiful ascent giving us this event. That dry air actually intensifies this afternoon. It's the devils work.

This dry air slot over de soto all morning is beyond comical. There has to be a connection with Rush Island/Ballwin Power houses and maybe the new cement plant in St. Gen. Happens way too often just here it seems.
