Dry air seems to be slowly loosing the battle...radar looks 1000% better than I expected but ground truth shows that it's still struggling to make it to the surface.

Also pretty amazing in the same 15 minutes the RH went from 65% to 85% and the temp went from 29 down to 25.... already have a dusting on the decks with a little in the grass

Snow starting to break through again in Festus. You can just see the struggle with the dry air. We knew this was a factor. Hope I can still muster a couple inches in Pville.

I said yesterday that the ground temps would be an issue with highs in the 60s and many here said it would not...it sure was here as well for the first several hours. Hasnt been here... Started sticking immediately. Bigger issue has been flake size. The dry air is really cutting them down into tiny salt shakers...except in the better bands. I think it can be a localized thing. If myself and PBC are on a stretch of ground facing S or E then ground temps could be 4-5* warmer than N or W facing slopes. The snow stuck immediately in the shadows of the buildings here, even though it was cloudy it still made a difference. We have had some pretty large flakes at times today, over quarter sized flakes for a period.

I fully agree with you there... southward facing slopes are a different story. My driveway is just west (faces southeast and slopes down). Neighbor's is covered and faces north.

My favorite thing is when the snow tapers and then the random large flakes start falling within the small ones.
Eventually giving way too moderate to heavy snow.
Currently just small flurries and the skies to my North have darkened.
And now the change is starting.

It's been snowing pretty steadily in Hazelwood and Florissant since at least 12:30. It's coming down pretty hard right now.

If the dry air was even 20 percent weaker.
We would be looking at 4-6" for almost all of us.

Getting some hamsters mixing in here in Edwardsville. Not a lot of flakes but some cotton balls mixing in. More snow here then I expected they'd see total.

Interesting that it seems like this corner has been around for a long time, and this kind of snow would have been "meh" in the early days of this corner...maybe not even watched that closely. Today, it has a full audience watching it and commenting. Just an observation.

Full blown hamsters in Edwardsville. This is a good sign for STL if it is snowing this hard here. Looks like we are closing in on a half inch.

I am down to tiny flakes again and the sky has lightened up. Looking at radar proved my suspicions of another dry air finger over de soto. .125" dusting on deck. Road just wet. Combined with earlier dusting I would say .25" has fallen. Temp just dropped to 29*

Lift is definitely starting to wane judging by the last few radar frames. Once that happens, the dry air will take hold again. Most will be lucky to get an inch from this...accumulation is slow even under the heavier returns.
