This week does not look as rainy as last week. 1 to 2 inches all week is my guess, whereas last week, models were projecting 3 to 5. I get that any rain is not good for river flooding, etc. I haven't looked at the euro, but can anyone dispute this? I think we will see more of a spotty nature across the region...there will be some big rainfall reports (along and north of 70) and some not so big (se of 44) based on what I'm seeing in the models. thoughts?

I believe you're right...daily totals aren't likely to exceed what we saw this past week. But the setup strongly favors bouts of convection and heavy rainfall. The NWS disco summed it up very well.

Here's a tweet from Fish from a few minutes ago. Talking about rain today I think
Seeing as parts of MO river valley already got what they were suppose to get all week...yeah it’s going to get interesting.

Water conservation in affect for Saint Clair county, IL due to levee break at the Choteau Island intake facility. All Saint Clair County residents are to refrain from dish washer/washing machine and lawn watering use until farther notice while repairs are under way. Madison county customers are not affected.

I dunno, people badly need to water their lawns right now

Wonder what's going on with the tornado sirens. They tested it at 9 AM as they should. And now here at 920 it's sounded twice more for a few seconds each time.

They are having to test the sirens by section instead of the whole county at once. Those in Portage Des Sioux and West Alton are expecting the siren to sound if there is a levee break and so they excluded those sections from the monthly test to not put those residents on high alert mistakenly.

twocat can you see the spot of the levee break from your house? Or are there too many trees in the way? Too many leafed out trees in the way! I guess the 370 business park is high enough that it won't flood? We did see an electronic billboard at 370 and Truman cautioning drivers to slow down due to displaced wildlife crossing the road.

We had a bunch up here when it flooded out a few years ago. I also remembering them having to close 370 because there were too many critters on the road people were swerving wildly to avoid them

Our old friend David Koeller, currently in Omaha, posted this map earlier today. If true that's going to send a whole bunch of water down the Missouri to go with the water on the Mississippi.

That stuff out west is starting to look kinda nasty Looks like its weakening fast coming from the northwest. But the southern part of the line down around Springfield looks intense. Kinda bummed about our chances. But truth be told, we don't need the rain.

The batch to the sw is trying to move this way. But it also looks like it's getting eaten, at least somewhat, by the DAM. If it was snow folks would be flipping their beanies.

Yea, this actually feels like the beginning of a pattern change now. This week will greatly underperform previous forecasts and that's a good thing. Let's all just hope it doesn't dry out completely now through the summer. That's always a concern of mine.

so are we thinking DRY-dry today? I'd love to actually attempt mowing my backyard later after work if that would actually be true.

Let's all just hope it doesn't dry out completely now through the summer. That's always a concern of mine. Im ready for drought! My yard looks crappy right now because I cut it last weekend when it was too wet. Silly me... I was relying on forecasts that said it was going to rain all week long. What was I thinking??? Really though, I would like to get into a pattern where you get a nice .25 - .50 rainfall every 10 - 14 days. Im really feeling sorry for the local farmers. They cant get out and get their fields planted. Windows of opportunity will be closing soon. Could be a poor year for crops if things dont dry out soon.
