The deformation band out west looks way better than modeled. Maybe we can get a small surprise tonight if that translates east I didn't have a lot of expectations with this system this morning but looking at recent trends I'm wondering if we'll be able to get a ground covering snowfall from this. Radar shows the low-level conveyor belt wrapping in towards the deepening mid-level low with better returns developing out towards COU ahead of it and showers along the flank...looks like a weak TROWAL developing in response to the negative tilt.

I will try and get a new thread going tomorrow. Working thhis shift it's harder to get things like that done. Im always whicked tired.
As for this evening... It would not surprise me at all to see the snow over Western Missouri fade and dissipate while a new zone of wrap-around precipitation expands over Southern Illinois. This could leave many on the Missouri side of the river in more of a drizzly pattern while the light accumulating snow focuses just East of downtown.

HRRR really doesn't pick up on what radar has been showing last few hours. Hope it stays together on the northern end like it has.

This thing is looking better all the time on water vapor...cooling cloud tops and a pivot point developing across the W counties towards COU. Gonna be a close call with the dry slot towards the Metro and SE though...but the precip developing out 70 looks banded with instability showers feeding into it. That should continue to fill in through this evening and hopefully get some decent snow rates going.

I wish everyone good luck.
These kinds of systems can over perform.
However if I get skunked which I will....
And I feel like ANYONE of YOU are gloating over your 5/8" snowfall jackpot.
I will come to your house with a blow torch and pliers...
And melt awkward looking snow holes in your otherwise pristine pack.
Have a nice night....

Both the Colombia and Jeff City airports are reporting snow with 1 mile visibility and the latest hrrr has them getting nothing tonight

As bgwx and others may have alluded to, it seems like some of the snow growth is below the radar beam so that's why it's not showing up.

Just drove down gravois for about a mile from grants farm to the east- I’m guessing close to an inch- gravois was covered. Where I live about a 1/4 mile west of grants farm not a flake

These must be some very isolated showers. My yard hasn't had anything but 1000 feet up the road got a light dusting. I wouldn't have thought that is even possible!
