Saint Louis metro a bullseye of 0.00" of precip next 2 weeks on pretty much all models. Feels like 2012 all over again minus the death defying heat.
2021: 2012 Drought strikes again...
Might not last into Summer but if we remain dry rest of Winter into Spring then we might be on a crash course for a repeat of a Summer from 'you know where'. Of course all speculation and no science to really back it up. Other then current signs aren't looking too good long term.

For once I'm rooting for the Euro. Southerners still in play according to it. This one fits the theme of the season - relatively small swath of snow with a local jackpot. Odds of that right now are roughly from Springfield into the central Ozarks. I'm right there with you! Do you think that the "mix" will include sleet? If so, couldn't that help to cool the surfaces so that any snow that falls will maybe stick? I'm grasping at straws here! Lol!

Good news is that it looks like the EPO will finally go negative beginning mid month. Both the EPS and GEFS are showing this. So it might be a boring few days ahead but we should hopefully have something to track soon

I still think the 2nd half of the winter will make up for the 1st...but it's got a loooooong way to go, lol.
If we can get the Pacific to play ball, it'll be a whole different story.

At least we have the gfs turning in pure winter consistently by mid month.
Would make it all worth it.

Covid symptoms finally starting to subside. Got a negative test this week too. S/O has spent every day with me since Xmas... no symptoms and no positive tests. This virus is so strange. Anyone else have weird experiences with it? I feel like it might just be a bias... perhaps this pandemic has made us hyper-focused on a communicable disease that we're starting to realize the course of illness' is less linear than we thought? Very strange past 2 or 3 weeks.

glad youre starting to do better sam. weatherwise, looks like nw flow being picked up by models in long range with potential for noreasters in that time period. cant let our guard down either but i think we wld hv to pump the ridge out west just a bit more for us to see some clipper or digging goods. never was a fan of ssw, too quick and dry for the intensity but they say ssw's are never the same. we shall see. i wld like to see more snow pack in nw canada.

The impacts of a SSW can last weeks or even months. You seem to have a bias driven by the 2019 PV event, where impacts were short lived in STL. SSW can lead to more snowy than cold patterns for us too. It’s pretty complicated

A little bit of mood flurries/snow Fri looks possible overnight (after midnight) especially near the Mississippi River and east into IL. A suprise if we get anything more than flurries.
