The GEM is the most underrated model out there, IMO...it does still have a bit of a cold and at times, intensity bias...but it often outperforms other models. I've noticed that it tends to do better during split flow/La Nina regimes than the other globals. Let’s hope it’s the winner for the potential system next week too. I hadn't looked at next week much...but yeah, it's got a nice looking CO Low type storm. I could see that bringing snow here if the -NAO flexes like it shows. The west-based blocking in the NATL is favorable for winter storms across the Midwest.

Seems like it got more slick out with the FRDZ we're getting...lack of warm drops is making for more efficient accretion despite the slight diurnal warming and insolation. Still sitting at the freeze point in Brighton...don't see us getting to 36* like the NWS is forecasting.

SGF radar looks pretty beefy with the deformation/Fgen band...that may sneak into the NW half or so of the CWA later this afternoon and evening.

My thermometer in Arnold is still reading 31.4* but I think its frozen over. Not much melting here though. Grass and elevated surfaces are still coated in ice

This morning may have been one of the most unpleasant mornings of Weather on the Road (WOTR) since we started doing it. Just gross and unpleasant. But for qll of that... the trees sure are pretty!

The temp has been hovering at 32 all morning. It has now dropped to 30. Are we going to get that next slug if moisture to our southwest?

My thermometer in Arnold is still reading 31.4* but I think its frozen over. Not much melting here though. Grass and elevated surfaces are still coated in ice I was just eating lunch while looking at the deck outside and noticed there's no dripping off the ice from last night. The grass still has a glaze from last night on it, too. Has to be below freezing here

I just woke up, we were out salting until 7am . It was 31 when then and now it’s 32-33 trees are still covered in ice. I thought for sure everything would have been melted by now.

There is no nice way to say it ..... our weather has been less than fun for several years now.... to say we are due is an understatement..... Jan 1 and I have 34 and drizzle ... all the ice is pretty much gone except a little left on the trees ...... it just refuses to snow here

What does EURO look like for next week.

Euro has it as well but it’s a bit warm. This won’t be a big system but if we can time it right with some just cold enough air it could be a decent little system for some.

Kansas City is getting some good snow! Wish, wish! Happy New Year everyone!!!! This is our first significant snow in quite sometime. We got 6 inches and its coming down moderately and sometimes heavily. We're in the jackpot snow band, someone will probably wind up with 10 inches up in the northland area or just west of here.

What does EURO look like for next week. It has a system that slides SE across the state. Pretty strange. Looks like rain ending as some snow

Welp, managed to somehow get corona. Didn't feel symptoms until after I got to DEN. Spent some time with family over Christmas. Think I may have given it to my pops. He says it's a bit worse than the flu but he's in pretty good health so he's not too worried. Everyone else I saw seems to be doing just find... and I've been with my S/O this entire week and she hasn't felt any symptoms yet. This virus is so weird.

32.7 here now. Icy trees still but steady melting drips. Be nice to squeeze out some flakes with the bands out west... drizzle at this time.

Pretty much all of the ice is gone except on the trees. It's 35* here, but just 50 miles to my SE it's popped into the upper 40's and in Hopkinsville, KY it's 70!

only 8 months? I'd venture to say more like 10. Sometimes 12 I was going to say something similar..."just 8?"....Of course, there's a few days in Autumn and Spring that are my favorite if just the right pattern persists beyond a day or two; but most often we just tend to flip seasons. I work with a lot of people native from India, and the Middle East. Many of them are excited to see snow for the first time in their lives when they first come to St. Louis. I let them down easily and tell them, our winters are rarely long and drawn out - in fact I tell them typically we get one or two chances of a good snow all winter long, and the snow rarely sticks around; and mostly what we see is rain and mid 30s. We get maybe a week or two where it can be brutally cold by St. Louis standards. In one or two cases, I've seen our international contractors make the move to our Minneapolis office to see more snow. I wouldn't want to live in Minneapolis just to see more snow. I know there's a lot of talk about cost cutting measures in my firm and one of those cost cutting measures would be to consolidate offices. The subject of moving us to Minneapolis has been discussed. I don't see myself agreeing to such a move. Now, Charlotte would be another matter, but I don't see that in the cards. It comes down to I hope I never have to make a decision to move north. I don't seek snowy places to live. On that note, my boss was getting restless about the lack of snow in Minneapolis a week or two ago. I'm sure that has changed. He absolutely hates it with no snow.

It is a weird virus. Spreads as easily as the common cold and I will say masks don't guarantee it won't be spread. For starters, masks are not worn correctly by the masses.
