Latest run of the hrrrr was probably the best one yet for the metro It also doesn't bring accumulating snow until 11AM and later.

Extremely unimpressive so far in Ballwin too. Sun keeps trying to come out and nothing lasts for more than a few minutes.

These posts are befuddling.
Considering nothing was modeled to happen yet.

These posts are befuddling. Considering nothing was modeled to happen yet. Agreed. Even the 12Z GFS has 0.20" of QPF between STL and where you live. And that model is definitely not accounting for convective enhanced precip. I was honestly expecting a huge letdown considering how things looked 24 hours ago.

Getting a few flurries with nothing on radar.... that’s always a good sign:)

Starting to see bigger dendrites mixing in now in Alton...snow rates should pick up now that convection is developing.

Looks like as it passes the river 10, 20 miles it starts to dissolve. EDIT: At least south of 70.

Well as soon as it stopped the sun poked through fro a min and it’s all melted now. Time of day is a blessing and a curse with this system. It will help increase low level lapse rates and instability which will help snow growth/rates but it also means accumulation is more difficult

Snowing half way decently, but at 34 or so nothing is sticking at all. Everything is wet. This is some good stuff.

Moderate snow is developing along and North of i-70. Will be moving ESE through the metro over the next hour It’s going to take moderate to even heavy snow to overtake these temps ..... I’m sitting at 36.4 ....If the HRRR is right that should happen

GFS has no cold air in sight the next 2 weeks now. All stays way north..like Canada.

Coming down pretty good and not even the mulch is covered. Even if it rips snow and by some miracle pick up an inch in ten minutes, as soon as the intensity wanes that stuff will melt quickly. My guess is I see nothing but grass by sundown. These are the worst kind of snows.

Daytime snow in January should not be an issue. But we were in the 50's the last several days, ground is way warmer than it should be, as is the air temp in the low-mid 30's. Can't get excited over this dreck.

Accumulations will be hard to sustain.
Which is fine.
That was unlikely to happen
