It just won't quit! You have to think snow production will be very efficient tomorrow into Monday when deeper lift and moisture advection gets going in this airmass. Dry air honestly seems like almost a non-issue with it being so cold...it has a much greater impact with borderline temps. Kind of reminds me of mountain snow. Just keeps producing snow, seemingly from nothing. I was thinking the same thing. 40:1 has to be near record for this region.

Don’t say that I just got back home after salting all morning. I need a break ! This snow piled up fast this morning, if this is how it will be tomorrow night it should be something pretty special, even if it’s only 3-5” it will be a neat snow. Treated Salt worked great today due to the low moisture content.

The fatigue of plow operators, including private ones, as well as fatigue on the equipment from lots of use in extreme cold.

euro is still se midweek. It has like 1 six hour period of snow here the next 5 days, whils parts of TX, AR, se MO and others get wave after wave. Infuriating. Euro will likely shift NW or at least north with end of next week. The SE ridge is supposed to gain some steam and with the cold air relaxing a bit as we go through the week I really see no reason for it to not.

I gained .5" of snow. Flakes still falling and by the looks of radar should pick up some. 14* and cloudy but dripping water off of the outbuilding roof 7 miles west of De Soto. I think I will scrape the driveway before the next Kaboom occurs.

Can someone provide me the link to the NWS US map that provides Short/Long term Forecast Discussion, 7 day Zone Forecasts, Watches/Warnings, etc when clicking a specific area of the map? I can’t find it!

I can’t find it! I used to be able to type in Interactive Weather Information Network and it would be the first link on a google search.

It's not just the cold temps at the surface that determine LSR. Its more important what the temps are in the region of max lift up in the clouds. Ive seen snow at some pretty cold temps at the surface fluff out well... like today. But Ive seen same cold produce very poor LSR because of dry air and weak lift in the DGZ.

Also FYI Schnucks is busy... I can't 'imagine' why? Have to go in later @ 4-10PM so things will be fun especially first half.

SREF Plumes took a small jump upward at 15z vs. 9z run.....from .28" to .33" or so. The end of the run at 06z 2/17 is on the rise also. Snowfall went from 4.25" to just under 5". Better than the 'other' way.

Temps are perfect for good flakes in the lowest 5k from what I have seen. So flakes are literally forming just over our heads.

First... Appologies to addj.. I jumped to quickly on him and I was wrong to do so. It appears based on recent reports amounts of around 1 are being reported... so you are in line. It has been a rough couple of days here and I snapped a bit. Please accept my humble appologies. Also... never had time to post my maps yesterday... but from what I had time to look at this AM... 3 to 6 is still a good cover for most of the area... down southeast... 6 to 8 looks better than 6 to 10. I hope things make a better turn and I hope your coworker is back from her mishap soon. It takes a man of integrity to admit when he’s wrong and apologize. We know you have it in spades and we knew something was weighing on you. Take care.

I know it's just one run, but that 250mb jet is so pretty. And on this run we are in the left exit region of this screaming 250mb jet for a bit...the recipe for upper level divergence. Great lift. The potential energy level w/ the Wed/Thurs mid latitude cyclone is amazing for deformation snow IF we get the right phase.

Yes, leaf blower works great on the concrete part. I have roughly 700' of gravel up to Hwy H. Leaf blower might work there but not enough extension cords. I might need to invest is a gasser.

I 'thought' the snow here might pick up because of the radar, but the sky is the brightest it has been all day. Close to being sunny. Blue patches of sky around.
