I don't think we'll have to worry about a drought this summer now especially if we stay active like this. Trying to stay positive here, it's tough.

Got my first Pfizer shot yesterday. No issues at all besides a little soreness in the arm of course. I implore all of you..everyone to get the vaccine. Now is the time to believe in science not shun it or be selfish. It will take all of us to get rid of this damn disease so things can get back to normal. Think of others, think of the going on half million who have died.
heavy pouring rain continues.gross. disgusting.

I don't think we'll have to worry about a drought this summer now especially if we stay active like this. Trying to stay positive here, it's tough. we are actually 2 plus inches below normal since december on qpf. this rain could wipe that out, and certainly by next weekend put us above normal or come very close. if the long range models are accurate with the snow build up north, and cpcs long leads for above normal rain here, we could actually see some minor river flooding this year. its not so much abt the snow anomalies up north in terms of seasonal totals, but the fact that the winter is back loaded for those locales coupled with the impending high activity in this part of the country.

My entire family had Covid back in November and it was little more than a nuisance for all of us. None of us got very sick at all and only lasted a few days. But I do know not all are as lucky as we were so I really hope the vaccine is truly successful. Time will tell.

Being in our early 30's and wanting to have more children, I'm not sure if my wife and I will. Not that there are indications it causes issues there (and it likely does not)...there just isn't enough data for me to feel comfortable. Having said that, if you are debating it, I agree with 99 - please get it. My wife's grandmother was about a week away from being able to get it. Unfortunately she and her husband contracted it somehow. He seems to be recovering - she is not and it doesn't look good at all. I only type this so that maybe someone who is in doubt about all of this reads it and understands that this is the real deal and we need to do everything we can to stop it. I've felt that way about it since the beginning but it's hitting too close to home now and it is very, very sad. Going back to weather, the models appear to be trying to bring the Wednesday system back. The Euro brought it back to some degree last night and the Nam (3k especially) is looking decent. We need onset in the morning while temps are in the upper 20's.

Hopefully the start of being 'dry slotted'. I never, ever thought I would say that. I did not have a rain gauge out but water is pooling in the yard. Storm creek is very full. This sucks.

The period around Thursday (2/4) to Saturday (2/6) is another to keep our eye on. The GEFS has been highlighting this period as anomalously troughy for at least 16 days now (yes the GEFS goes past hour 384). The EPS and GEPS both agree. If a significant mid latitude cyclone were form around this time it would rank among the longest lead times I've ever seen from computer models.
Unfortunately all 3 ensembles show the surface low moving north of STL. You know what that means...mostly rain.

Even though I saw this atrocious winter coming a mile away, it may be worse than I feared. Just pathetic.

I'm really not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, but February is not kind to St. Louis in regards to significant snow storms. In fact, I believe the last bona-fide winter storm (6"+) in February was 27 years ago.
