I was going to post a video (not sure how to do it) of Deep Purple singing 'Burn' at California Jam 1 at the old Ontario Motor Speedway on 4/6/74. This was with the new lineup of a very young David Coverdale (Future Whitesnake Frontman) and Glenn Hughes as backing vocals to replace Ian Gillan. I was at this concert. My older brother took me. I was 14. Deep Purple and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer co-headlined. Great concert and all of it is on Youtube. Keeping it weather related...it was very hot for early April this particular day. Edit: Maybe youtu.be/BxgVpSVpH6Y

The sky is now washed out enough that it is difficult to make out which parts have clouds and which are clear.

be cool to see the filtered orange/red sun at midday like it is in the evenings. Have to be pretty thick for that though I guess.
Not cool for the folks out west though

We drove out to CO for my uncles funeral last Sunday and we noticed the smoke in western Kansas and since we arrived Mon pm you can hardly see the mountains. It’s also in the 90s! Hope to go see the mts up close and personal before we head home! Just in time for more summer heat in MO!

Seems like models are backing off on the heat into next week, with a further west trend of the ridge placement. This keeps us in the NW flow and the "cool" side of the ridge and in the ring of fire. This has been a pretty consistent trend this season in the medium/long range. NWS has shaved about 5* off highs Mon/Tues.

Great morning for mowing……NOT. This every three day routine is terrible. I guess the 90’s will take care of that.

Since I hate hot and dry I guess I’ll live with the frequent mowing. Thanks for your always appreciated input.

The rainy pattern is saving us from the furnace, so I'll take it...but the humidity is getting a bit ridiculous. I've recorded 18 straight days of Tds >70*F and many more to come.

I kind of forgot about this, but it seems like after a delay the “3 tier” severe thunderstorm warnings will go live July 28th

Earlier this year a made a tongue-in-cheek prediction that we'd see an Excessive Heat Warning in July. That hasn't gone so well so far, but there is still hope. Ensembles are showing a ridge of high pressure developing next week so we'll see.

Yeah the middle -end of next weeks looks very unpleasant. Not that the next several days will be great either.

My mom and sister are driving up here tomorrow and the hubs comes home on Sunday! After being in a desert for the past 7 months the 100 degree temps might feel a little cool to him.
